I genuinely really like Leto both as an actor and as a musician, and I really wish he wasn't such a raging douchebag
Decided to see this really late tonight just because. Really loved it a lot. The cinematography was awesome, it was well-written and I could go on and on. Blade Runner is my all-time favorite film and this was just an excellent addition.
I'm a little annoyed that in 2049, there's no real male nudity or pleasure workers... like even things out a bit ha? This society is just really into breasts/erect nipples? I guess there's no equal objectification in the future still somehow...especially with how this week has been going, just one of my quibbles (along with Jared Leto ha as others have mentioned). Otherwise, I honestly can't stop thinking about the visuals and how much the acting has blown me away. The pacing didn't really bother me at all and I am considering seeing this again before it's theater run is done.
That scene definitely had the most impact for me. Very heartbreaking. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I walked out loving it, but I need to see it again. Most of it worked for me, a few things didn’t. Overall a very positive experience. One thing I can say is that I appreciate how much time they took with everything really. Such a wonderful universe though. Feels so incredibly lived in. joi’s death did virtually nothing for me. It’s impact definitely lessened by Luv’s lame ass one liner
I can't stop thinking about this. Seriously considering staying after work and watching it again. What do people think make of Stelline crafting a memory involving snow as K is dying of side in the snow?
I really could have done without all the flashbacks. I’m not that dumb. Edit: by flashback I mean showing sequences of the film that we had already seen like an hour ago
People have mentioned ambiguity about Deckard’s character and I don’t really understand that. The Final Cut makes it pretty damn clear that he is in fact a replicant. Also, the movie straight up talks about “extended life models” which to me was a way to compensate for the fact that we live in the real world and Harrison Ford the actor is old and his character is a robot. Lastly, I think Deckard being a human kinda takes away from the “miracle” of it all.
It is a mystery why they would give that much of a budget to a sequel of a film made 35 years ago that was never that popular in the first place.
There’s no surprise to me that this isn’t performing well at the box office. It’s nearly three hours long and the original didn’t gain attention until home release. They must have gone into it knowing it wouldn’t do all that great financially Edit: which to me makes it seem like more of a passion project, and I can appreciate that. My biggest concern is that, because of certain elements regarding the ending, is that they’ll make a third. Please for the love of god do not make a Blade Runner war movie. We don’t need that
Yeah agreed, this turned out just about as perfectly as it could've. I'd appreciate it if they left it alone now.
It’s a special feeling when you know you’re watching one of your favorite films for the first time. The credits roll and the feeling becomes bittersweet.
I’d be really happy if we don’t get a Blade Runner 3. Let it be a 1, 2, and done. It ended on a great note.
I agree, I am perfectly happy with it ending here. But if Villanueve (and ONLY Villanueve) said he's got something...I'm down.
the only scene that implies that at all, imo, is the one where he refuses to answer how he did on the test. i dont see it as unambiguous
Is K a clone of Stelline and that’s why her memories were in him? I don’t think the film ever commented on that, but the way I connected the dots led me to believe that K was a clone while Stelline’s death was faked (part of the plan to scatter the records).
'Blade Runner 2049' Aims for $50M+ Opening, Hoping for Long Legs Throughout October - Box Office Mojo With an estimated $12.7 million on Friday (including $4 million from Thursday night previews), Blade Runner 2049 is looking to come in well below expectations, targeting an opening anywhere from $31-36 million.
I never thought clone. It seems Stellines been illegally incorporating her memory in multiple replicants. The Replicant with one eye leading that whole group commented that they all once thought they were the child, so they all have the same memory.
