Fabulous film. I have some lore issues and need to see it again but that was an amazing amazing piece of cinema. Stands alongside the original.
Everything in this post is a spoiler. Small but please read at your own discretion. It would be an absolute crime if Deakins walks about of the Oscars empty handed. Beautiful film, visually stunning. Batista is good, he's not in it very much at all but his performance is quite good. His best performance on screen to date. No. bit of this, bit of that. His character is a tertiary antagonist at best. Not much screen time at all. What he has Leto does a good job with. It was written for a different person and you can tell but Leto does a good job. The character itself is probably the least fleshed out in the whole film, other characters with less screen time have more of an emotional impact so I'd say it would be a struggle for any actor to steal the show with that part. He did the best that could be done imo.
I assume this isn't too dependent on the original? I wanna try and see this tonight but I'm hanging out with a buddy who I'm 100% sure hasn't seen the first one.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I like the original BR (Final Cut) more, but yes, the visuals are fantastic. I enjoyed the score and sound design as well. Glad to have seen it in IMAX 2D. Also, definitely see the original before this one.
Might be my favorite film I've seen all year thus far. This was truly something special to witness. Also one of the best things about it was they managed to write it so that we still technically don't know if Deckard is a replicant or not.
Hnnngg. I’d see this tonight and then just see it again when my friends can but alas, money is a thing. Hopefully tomorrow
About how much screentime does he have overall? Unless it's changed in the last week the only one that's rentable on there is the theatrical cut
A lot of talk about Deakins finally getting an Oscar... What about Gosling and Ford? They both deserve some hype as well.
They were both good but Deakins’ work in this is the true star of the show imo, my jaw dropped several times during this just taking in the beautiful cinematography.
The moment of K's realization that he is not the child was absolutely devastating for me. His entire arc is, actually. All the good memories are hers.
I think he died, but I have no issues with it being open to interpretation. Dying for a good cause is the most human thing someone can do... And why would Tears in the Rain play during that scene if K wasn't dying?
