Ugh, so so so so so fuckin' sad. This one hits close to home as my grandmother passed away from colon cancer at a fairly young age (58) when I was in middle school (21 years ago...). She only made it 3 or 4 months after diagnosis, so I'm extremely grateful he was able to fight this thing for as long he did and share his wonderful talent with the world. "A true fighter" he was. Rest In Power, King.
Amazing actor and so clearly an amazingly strong person. Rest in peace and knowledge that you’ve inspired so, so many people.
“The most important thing you have is time. You know what I’m saying? It’s not money. It’s time. Every day you have to put time into becoming who you’re supposed to become.”
I've been crying on and off since I heard last night - just wanted to pop in here to say hugs to everyone else grieving this indescribable loss. You're not alone.
Chadwick Boseman Gave Us Something We Had Not Had Before Representation is not everything. I am acutely aware of its limits across American culture and politics. Representation will not prevent Black people from being killed by police. It will not reduce the racial wealth gap. It will not prevent Black people from being disproportionately affected by COVID-19. But neither is it nothing. As I wrote after watching Black Panther in 2018: “We should not confuse representation with political power, nor should we discount it.”
