Yeah I agree with this: It's still a funny reaction without the meme context. I also laughed at the scene for this reason.
So my favorite part of this movie when I chuckled seeing Wale, and the black guy next to me goes, "What the fuck is Wale doing in Wakanda?"
The warlord tattoos or whatever they were called, the inner lip tattoos, were Wakandan technology right not genetic I'm wondering how Killmonger had one, I guess they had some Wakandan technology wherever they went, also did he get his kill tattoos at a tattoo shop that must have been expensive as hell Also there's no way N'Jobu was the first one to blab about vibranium right, that whole spy program seems very unsustainable and unregulated, like I guess all spies have secret government information but an endless supply of a valuable natural resource is a biggie
Since I love numbers, I put together a handful from the last two years (all domestic numbers). The biggest releases had either a complete cast of black actors or was led by a woman. HUH. Black Panther: $75 million on FRIDAY Estimated $210 million on the weekend Spider-Man: Homecoming: $117 million opening $334 million lifetime Thor 3: $122 million opening $314 million lifetime Guardians 2: $146 million opening $389 million lifetime Wonder Woman: $103 million opening $412 million lifetime Justice League: $93 million opening $228 million lifetime
The 200+ million estimate is the 4-day weekend, not 3-day (according to boxofficemojo), which is still the 5th highest opening weekend.
It’s because both comic and general audiences were waiting a while for a black superhero and female superhero to lead a film. The audience numbers have always been there. They just were waiting for tickets to pop up. Combine the popularity of superhero films with the above and its a recipe for cash.
Soundtrack also went #1, selling more than double the amount of the #2 album which was the Greatest Showman soundtrack lol
The last two Marvel movies were both directed by POC. And, they were both big successes (especially Black Panther) that work great both as looks at the world we live in and just as fun entertainment. It's almost as if empowering a wider range of creative voices is a better decision for these big studios than constantly giving big breaks and second chances to mediocre white dudes (while saying they're just looking for "the best person for the job").
I'm pretty sure they're actually in the process of rebooting without Michael Bay, but hey, maybe we'll get to see him tackle Lobo.
Oh good. Maybe it won't look like giant pieces of metal having sex with each other for hours at a time any more.
I’m interested in seeing if this film can draw new fans to theaters for Black Panther’s role in Infinity War.
My take is that the Soul Stone is in the soil where the vibranium plants grow and that is why T’Challa and Killmonger are both able to speak to their father’s spirits. I don’t know how Thanos will gain awareness of this though.
I'm mostly interested in seeing how this does in foreign markets. I imagine that Asian markets may be put off by it. I don't know what the market looks like for African countries at all, but I imagine it would do exceedingly well.
I mean, I'd be fine with it looking like giant pieces of metal having sex with each other for hours at a time if they were at least sexy giant pieces of metal having sex with each other for hours at a time. Like, maybe that's what the franchise has been missing all along. Erotica featuring machines that don't require gender or sexual reproduction.
