I feel bad for the Cinemark near me. Apparently their file was corrupted and they couldn't show Black Panther tonight. Now their customers are screaming at everyone that works there and spouting off on the net that the theatre is refusing to play the movie on purpose because its an African American film.
I really dug this! I loved the deeper themes and ideas they were working with.... tradition vs doing what’s right. Honoring the past yet growing and moving forward. Betrayal. Mercy. Loyalty. That’s what hooked me and made me really enjoy this. A lot of the action seemed very shaky cam to me. Reminded me of the opening of Civil War in that way. The final battle(s) looked the best but weren’t anything spectacular visually.
Good stuff. I’d rank it around the middle of the Marvel movies but it works perfectly on its own. His sister was my favorite character. Kudos to the villains as well.
That sucks. As a manager at a Cinemark, it doesn’t sound like they did their job properly though. Content is always quality checked a day or two prior, I’ve never seen a file get corrupted once it’s already on the server.
This was quite good. It telegraphed every plot point a little too much. But the characters were magnificent and really papered over the flaws.
We aren't even allowed to quality check at Regal. We actually did have a file go corrupt once after it was already on our server but it was like Sherlock gnomes or something that no one cared about.
I’ll just copy/paste my Facebook review Ever since T’Challa was announced to appear in Civil War, I was waiting to see how Marvel would handle him in his own film. The four year wait was worth it. I find Wakanda and Black Panther to be as interesting at Kamar Taj and Doctor Strange as they both have their own distinct comic book histories before being pulled into the Avengers. Just like with Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange, Ryan Coogler was successfully able to bring the artistic comic panels by Jack Kirby to life in a believable way that isn’t too cheesy to exist within the same universe as Spider-Man’s Queens, NY. As far as origin stories go, Black Panther is tied with Doctor Strange and I would place it in my top 5 Marvel films. The story is a breath of fresh air for comic book films that dances along the line of political corruption, arms deals, and how there will be always be two sides to disrupt any peaceful negotiation. The villain, which I would agree with most critics, is one of the MCU’s best and would be ranked along side Loki, Baron Zemo, Vulture, and as we all anticipate, the mad Titan Thanos. His motives are absent of the cliché power hungry cries that make us bored of comic villains, but instead stems from a more emotional and personal quest for vengeance whichresults in him being one of the more dangerous villains to come across a future Avenger, and gives the film a much needed real sense of threat. T’Challa is executed well and is given a unique place along side Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. Unlike those three, T’Challa does not view himself as a “hero”, but just as the king of a nation who only wishes to protect his people without a care of the outside world. This is something that the film was able to successfully pull from the comics as well and will add interesting character development. As anyone who has seen the Infinity War trailer knows, T’Challa will have to joins forces with the Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy when he goes face-to-face with the Infinity Gauntlet wielding Thanos as the nation of Wakanda is under attack by an extraterrestrial army, so familiarizing yourself with the characters and nation of Wakanda would be beneficial to capturing the full scale of the War. Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, is also the cutest woman currently in the MCU and I enjoyed every moment of her screen time. P.S. There are mid-credit and an after-credit scenes with the last one showing one of my favorite MCU characters. ;)
Wow, what an awesome movie. I loved that ending moment with the boy going up to T'Challa on the court and I really loved the action scenes in South Korea. And obviously a lot more I don't have time to write about right now lol Best Stan Lee cameo yet.
I’m going to go ahead and guess that the Soul Stone is buried in the soil that the plants grow in and that’s why individuals are able to see and speak to their ancestors after they consume it.
Felt like Star Wars, which is the highest praise I can give to any movie. Michael B Jordan absolutely killed it.
Loved the movie. Wanted it to be longer. I need to see it a second time to fully form my thoughts, but I can definitely say that the cast of characters and the world they occupied were fantastic.
this was fuckin lit. Letitia Wright is incredible and adorable; Serkis was delightfully chewing the scenery whenever he showed up and i am SHOCKED they committed to killing him off; Michael B Jordan's Kilmonger was, as stated, the best villain Marvel has produced so far. main complaint is the typical Marvel action scenes. edited a bit too quick, little too shaky, never really carries a sense of weight. certain outdoor scenes in Wakanda looked a little off lighting-wise as well at times. REALLY fucking solid 9/10 for me though. I'm gonna be thinking about Kilmonger's arc all weekend
These four words were probably the only thing somebody could say to get me even more excited than I already was for this movie.
Did anyone else only get the Infinity War trailer before the film? Just curious if they're doing that everywhere
Idk, but Im now expecting T'Challa to ignite the green and take down the First Order by himself and if its anything less this movie sucks.
