Common People is good. Great satire of the commidifaction of healthcare and the ramifications if has on the working class. For those look looking for a more traditional classic Black Mirror feeling episode this season, this is the one to watch.
Eulogy blew me away. Giamatti is getting that fucking Emmy. Incredible performance. Felt almost like a really great heartfelt play, in that it felt kind of small in scale and relied heavily on quality acting and dialogue. The best acting performance in Black Mirror history. Also Emma Corrin is probably getting at least a nom for Hotel Reverie. Her performance made that episode. Wasn't big on some of the other performances in that episode, but she carried it.
Done. My ranking 1. Eulogy 2. USS Callister: Into Infinity 3. Common People 4. Hotel Reverie 5. Plaything 6. Bete Noire Into Infinity was better than the original Callister. Very funny and entertaining. Milotti always great. Jimmi Simpson needs to be cast as the lead in a comedy series. Overall best BM season since season 4 in 2017. Definitely thought it was better than the last two.
Also the USS Callister sequel is almost 2 hours long. It's basically a movie, but thankfully it definitely feels like one. The most cinematic and commercial feeling Black Mirror episode to date. Almost felt like Charlie Brooker's pitch to Hollywood to get him to make a blockbuster.
Re Common People, surely you could just use Rivermind Lux to turn yourself into a super high-level athlete/musician/camgirl/etc. and become rich almost overnight, no? Get loopholed, nerds.
I appreciate the themes behind episode 1 but it just wasn’t a very good watch. Once it got going it was oddly predictable for a black mirror, scene after scene. Still happy to have more of this show though
Emma Corrin's performance gets really good near the backhalf. That episode might have completely sucked it if wasn't for her.
