I feel like it's totally implausible for anybody to actually agree to that kind of procedure in the first place. Like, there's no way that's going to turn out good in the long run.
Also it's also executed in a way that's very dumb and hacky with lots of 'It feels weird to have a dick' jokes and it throws the idea of human empathy out the window to get to the teddy bear bit. Thematically it's almost identical to BRB but BRB is much better.
When you're a grief-stricken single parent and your comatose wife is lying right there beside you telling you to do it, that's the kinda thing that might cloud your better judgement.
Just started watching this show for the first time. Really loved Hang the DJ and the Star Trek one. I lol'd when the lens flares came in at the end. Thought it was a nice nod to JJ's reboots.
4 episodes in but I love this season. Hang the dj and the first episode are so damn good! Super clever stuff
Re Arkangel Felt very... uninspired? Not entirely sure the word I'm looking for. But "implant than lets parents spy on their children raises privacy concerns as parents stalk their kids" is very much a "yeah obviously that was going to happen what did you expect" kind of concept. And while sure, you could say similar things about several other episodes they at least had slightly more novel ideas to begin with, likable characters, or other redeeming qualities. Arkangel just felt very flat.
USS Callister - 5/5 - Fav episode of the season. Everything worked for me. Arkangel - 2.5/5 - Interesting concept. Uninteresting execution. Crocodile - 3/5 - Ultimately didn't grip me, but I liked the sort of downward spiral it goes through. Hang the DJ - 4/5 - Emotionally effecting. Cool concept. Really like the protagonists. Metalhead - 3.5/5 - Pretty thin on themes/plot/ideas, but it looks amazing and was thrilling. Black Museum - 4.5/5 - A bit silly at times, but I loved this. So much going on it too.
Black museum is incredible So we are to believe that they wanted the box of bears in metal heads bc they contained someone’s uploaded conciosness?
That reminds me actually, I got my own problems with Black Museum, namely given how it was established that "digital persons" (for lack of a better term) have rights, how was what happened to Clayton ever allowed? That feels like an inconsistency to me. But maybe I'm an idiot.
Really liked Crocodile. Biggest gripe was The fucking guinea pig at the end. Why? It betrays earlier aspects of them establishing how the tech works, and I don't think it actually added anything to the story. At the end of the day, who cares if she gets caught? The concept of guilt and the idea that those increases in crime fighting tech just result in more innocent people getting killed as people can't leave witnesses are still the main takeaways from the episode.
I just finished EP 4 and this season is really impressing me. I'm not the most high-minded person so even ArkAngel was pretty dope to me.
So I'm just starting out this show. I dove in with a few season 4 episodes and "White Christmas", but now I'm going through and watching them in order... Holy fuck, the premise of that first episode. That is ballsy for a first episode.
I've seen a little bit of this show but I'm making my way through random episodes. BRB is probably my favourite, with White Bear coming in second. Black Museum was pretty great too. Although when buddy said "it's like jerking off in front of a cop that is also your mom" I fucking spit my water everywhere. What a funny, dumb ass thing to say haha
I'm sort of excited for White Bear now. When I was scrolling through with my room mate (who has seen them all) he immediately said, "I like most of them, but I hated White Bear" haha.
Not to over hype it or anything, but White Bear is one of the best episodes of television ever produced
Strange! It seems to be one of the more hyped episodes, and your first watch blind will be amazing I think. I'll be excited to know your thoughts!
