Mine: Best: 1. The Entire History of You 2. White Christmas 3. San Junipero Good: 4. White Bear 5. Be Right Back 6. Playtest 7. Shut Up and Dance 8. Fifteen Million Merits Okay: 9. Nosedive 10. The National Anthem 11. Men Against Fire 12. Hated in the Nation Worst: 13. The Waldo Moment
From best to worst. Note that I haven't seen seasons 1-2 for a few years, so I need to rewatch. 1. San Junipero 2. Be Right Back 3. White Bear 4. White Christmas 5. The Entire History of You 6. Shut Up and Dance 7. Fifteen Million Merits 8. Men Against Fire 9. Nosedive 10. Hated in The Nation 11. Playtest 12. National Anthem 13. That Waldo Moment I always preferred the episodes with a massive amount of sci-fi, or the one with the most "oomph" at the end. Playtest could have been higher, but I don't know, something about it made me just not dig it too much.
watched them all for the first time within the last two months or so: 1. Playtest 2. San Junipero 3. Be Right Back 4. The Entire History of You 5. Hated in the Nation 6. White Christmas 7. Men Against Fire 8. White Bear 9. Nosedive 10. Fifteen Million Merits 11. That Waldo Moment 12. National Anthem 13. Shut Up and Dance
The pedo aspect certainly turned a lot of people off. Then again it was one of the largest reveals of the entire series.
the reveal was pretty predictable, to me and my fiance at least, and i felt like it was one of the more just overly gross and needless of the series. also, outside of the main kid, i feel like the acting was among the worst in the series. it just felt very "i've seen this before" where most of the other episodes in the series has not felt that way.
Blackmailed for something you've done online has CERTAINLY been done before. It felt as if the entire episode was to get you to like this kid, then reveal how much of a deviant he was.
right. i agree. but if you see the reveal coming ahead of it, there's not much else left to the episode.
Understandable. It was pretty similar to White Bear in that you spend most of the episode wondering what is going on and feeling sympathy for the character and then the end revels the twist. also the 4chan troll faces were cheesy as hell.
I guessed what it was immediately, I still loved that episode. Just watching it play out was great, the ending is one of my favourite moments of the series.
I'm torn between Be Right Back and San Junipero as my number 1. Be Right Back was just heartbreaking, as was San Junipero.
I honestly didn't see the twist coming, and after I saw it I realized how obvious it was. Plus the kid, and Bran made a interesting duo. The pedo thing was gross obv.
Shut Up and Dance might be the worst for me. The big twist was lazy. The fact that some people fight each other to the death while others deliver a cake is silly as well. Top 3 are White Christmas The Entire History of You The National Anthem
The Shut Up and Dance ending/reveal was way more "oh... ok, i guess" than "WHOA" or "HOLY SHIT" or "NO WAY" or the other great things I've gotten from other episodes. Just didn't do much for me
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the two that fought to the death were both ones who got caught by the hackers for child porn, right? That's why their last instruction was to fight so they either died or the hackers called the police with their location and evidence of child porn so they'd get a life sentence in jail. The others were disgraceful acts, but acts that didn't cause direct harm on others (racist email [that this doesn't cause direct harm is not the best way to put it but this isn't the politics forum so I realize this is a bad way to phrase the act], cheating on spouse, etc).
I tried doing a ranking and it was way too hard so I'll just say my favourites are White Christmas, San Junipero, Be Right Back, and Fifteen Million Merits.
I think Shut Up and Dance would have been a more interesting episode without the pedophile angle. I spent most of the episode thinking it was all about the lengths people would go to in order to hide something embarrassing but not earth-shattering or life-destroying, and the tragedy would be that the things they do out of fear of embarrassment end up being completely disproportionate to the level of shame they would have felt if their secrets were out. But after the reveal, my reaction was just that, yeah, it totally makes sense that he would do some crazy stuff to keep that from coming out. Obviously I was expecting something totally different than what the episode was going for, but I think that's why it was sort of underwhelming for me.
Interesting, I actually assumed the reveal at the end, specifically the other guy knowing the kid was also a pedo, implied that everyone who was involved shared the same trait. So the twist was also that the guy who was involved with a prostitute was actually involved with an underage prostitute, like the kid who was filmed masturbating was actually masturbating to underage children. I assumed it was part of the twist. You could easily be right though I don't remember the other details as well. Now that I think about it I found the troll face stuff to be pandering and almost as annoying as such an exaggerated twist.
