The buzziest and most elusive band of 2019 will be dropping their debut album June 21. Coming out on Rough Trade.

Official tracklist has not been released but these are some singles that will potentially make the cut. Album will be 9 tracks and 43 minutes.

Apologies to all the other bands, but this is far and away the best and most inventive record to come from the new wave of post-punk

Let’s talk about Black Midi, you either love to hate em or you hate to love em

I will say it feels very good to have a buzz band that actually warrants a response beyond simple “this is good/bad” takes and I think this band is very good

    lmfao this is true

"You are also introduced to singer Geordie Greep’s divisive, dynamic voice: Imagine someone with the name “Geordie Greep” and that’s essentially who he sounds like"

Musically this is a really fucking cool, which is a shame because I am absolutely not feeling the vocals whatsoever. Dude sounds like he should be singing prog rock

He sounds like Peter Silberman. Which means he sounds great.

For me this strays way past inventive into the realm of the obnoxious

A Great Big Pile of Leaves jamming with Chon while Pee Wee Herman takes vocals, big no thank you

I didn’t find this obnoxious at all and actually thought it was a pretty tasteful album lol

This legitimately could not be any further from what they actually sound like that I almost have to give you credit for saying something so bizarre

Aren’t you the same user that goes into post-punk album threads and asks people why they like it? Maybe it’s time to just not weigh in on bands like this, the best case is you come off really ill-informed but it is more likely you’re just being needlessly incendiary

“953” is one of the best album openers I’ve heard maybe ever.

I think "Western" is my fav. The bass tone in the quiet parts is sublime

also i was really surprised how much i though of the talking heads while listening to this. his voice is very Byrne but a lot of the extra percussion brought me there too. probably not a coincidence given the title of their latest single lol
