Finally got to listen to this in the car yesterday. I think I’m not Well’s highs are higher, and the back half of this blends a bit for me, but there was a lot of things that made me stop and think “this is new/cool/interesting.” I’m a fan.
Somehow super late to this thread. Whoops Fuck this album is dope. So different than what i was expecting. Didn’t really listen to the singles so was surprised by how much more subdued this is. Gonna be spinning this and the new animal Flag way too much.
It will grow on you the more you listen to it. In time i think i will actually like this more than im not well
What are your favorites? I already adore Breathe, sæla, and the big wild. The first half of Joy I don’t really like much but the back half saves it. But yea I do like it a lot as a whole, they’re becoming one of my favorite newer bands.
Me too! Its funny i really enjoy the whole thing i dont really have any specific favorites. I mean Joy, Take me home and the closer are standouts but theres not a single track i dislike on the record and none of it blends together to me. More than enough variety once you get more familiar with the record just like Morning by Out of Service tbh
I think manic in me is fine but I skip it sometimes. It sounds a little awkward to me, I get a weird vibe from it, like I’m not sure how to feel lol
Manic in Me stands out as generic compared to everything else imo, but it's still good. I wouldn't skip it, just not a fav
Like I was saying earlier in the thread, I do wish this band had a few more hooks spread throughout the record, so I think that's why I like it so much. It's the most fun I have singing along to any of their songs -- though Slow Jams Forever has lent it's fair share of saliva to my steering wheel as well.
Yeah I agree now it’s actually more arena rock than pop-punk, which is what I wasn’t digging and still am struggling with - the vocals feel excessively theatrical to me at times, especially on Manic in Me (can’t deal with the yelps at the end of every line etc), but there are some songs where he tones it down and it works a lot better for me.
The back half of this record slays. At times the theatrical style irks me. Other times. I really dig it. I’ve decided. That’s just Black Foxxes.
