Old post, but that's pretty much exactly how I felt. So, did they live up to their potential on this one?

 

imo yes

 

Not 100% sold on the vocals yet but I adore the guitar tones on this album

 

Yea the guitar is so great on this. Any reason why you don’t like the vocals? I think they have a ton of emotion in them

 

They just kinda grated on me at times, like a pop-punk version of Andy Hull. I've only listened to this band once before so I'm probably making unfair judgements, and this record is certainly way more interesting to me than the last one.

 

Lol yea the “pop punk version of andy hull” doesn’t make sense to me haha. I don’t hear any pop punk in this band. I could see them being grating tho, they can be pitchy at times, I think it’s part of his style tho

 

The vocals put me off to INW for a while but I’ve grown to really like them. I think he’s a pretty unique singer

 

Ya I could see how it could take someone a while to get used to them

 

The vocals were what made me love INW in the first place. Love his style for this music.

Was gonna go to bed but I’m thinking I’ll stay up for a bit and check this out right now

 

It’s fucking great.. and I don’t curse a lot

 

I gotta get up and teach tomorrow but I would rather listen to this

I think he sounds a lot like Michael Shepard from Lovedrug on this, especially on “Manic In Me”.

 

kind of a brian molko aspect to his voice in "the big wild," which is a song i love so much

 

Ugh not gonna be able to listen to this for a couple days. Sounds like I’m in for a treat though

 

So yeah this is real good.

 

am I losing it, is my least favorite I think. Idk why, it just doesn't do much for me right now. maybe it will grow on me?
