This didn’t do it for me. Black Adam is a really boring character to me as a lead and it looks like The Rock is playing him very wooden from this footage. I’m excited for the Justice Society and Pierce as Dr. Fate looks great, but my hopes are not high for this.
I mean, the heavy emphasis on him killing being some like new angle is inadvertently hilarious. Like, the Trinity kill people. Like, that’s an angle you want to promote as being fresh and game changing? LOL okay then.
I dunno, looks kinda fun to me? They seem to be playing it super sincere, in a good way: It’s seemingly ridiculous and overwrought, but neither self aware nor the wrong kind of “serious.” The only moment that’s a bit off to me is the guy knocked into the sky, which has a Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance schlock vibe that I’m not sure fits the rest.
Exactly this. They were born to play that role and they just haven't been given the chance to actually shine.
I said the same thing after the last trailer, but I just love how overly sincere this looks. It's just so comic-book-y and dramatic and shameless and big. If you're into comics, there's a series going right now, that's about three issues in, written by Priest (of Black Panther fame), which I'd definitely recommend. Dude's got such a specific, compelling creative voice with is a nice fit for Black Adam.
Basically two hours sounds good to me. Sounds like Henry Cavill is back as Superman in the credits scene, with the John Williams score? Supposedly the Rock worked hard with relevant parties to make it happen. If that's legit, then it's legitamately dope and hopefully leads to something cool in the future.
It’s all over twitter as if it’s official. Really cool that I had no chance of not being spoiled on it.
embargo lifted at 9pm EST tomorrow. pretty early for a movie leaving a quite a bit to be desired, buzz-wise
