I’ve only listened to half of it - life is crazy atm and I can’t focus on an album as dense and beautiful as this until things calm down. Greatly enjoy what I’ve heard so far, though!
I'm getting my aggression out on the new Slipknot so I can chill out to this in a bit. Although the new Slipknot isn't doing that much for me right now anyway
I think she misled people saying this was going to be a club album but to her it probably is haha. Anyways I really dug this and I can’t imagine anyone who enjoys any of her output from the last 15 years not doing the same. Title track and the closer are a fucking wallop, closer especially is gorgeous
Victimhood is a pretty striking change of mood. The way the main vocals move around the channels about four and a half minutes in is really cool. Wraps you in this place, not a two dimensional song. As with a lot of Björk albums, the melodies meander quite a lot which means they click more on later listens. Atopos is a little more immediate, especially when it lets go with those rhythms in the last minute. Such a great opener. She's got so good at creating environments for you to get lost in. I need a few more listens with this...it's mostly very optimistic sounding like the last one and it's a sad fact that I gravitate most immediately to sadness in music lol. On first listen though, I dig most of it. Particularly Atopos, Mycelia and probably each of the last five tracks.
Yeah listening to this I really felt like I was in a cave underground like Fraggle Rock or something. It's awesome. "Mycelia" really brought a smile to my face. I think it's a good mix of fun / somber tracks
About to get high af and spin this. Only way to listen to Bjork. Drums at the end of the opener get me going, it's the only song I've heard so far.
