Thank you for the update. I was wondering what the status was on this and whether he was still in the band.
He was always just a touring member (maybe he had a few credits?) and he stepped down shortly after the news came out, now he's back in the fold.
There's going to be strong opinions on the Reese situation (RE - accountability in music thread) but I'll still be at the tour date I have tickets for coming up. If I'm ignorant of the extent of the allegations, and find out more, I could change my mind. For now, and what I know, it's not ideal, but I'm not cancelling them.
Show in ATL was sick. They sounded huge. Added 2 members to the live show. A 2nd guitarist, and an acoustic guitar/banjo/keyboard/slide guitar guy. Such a wild upgrade to stage setup and sound from when I saw them on the American Motorsports tour in Bham in 2024 25 songs (counting the 2 interludes) The Eagles were playing at Truist Park(The Braves' stadium) which is in the same spot at The Roxy where Bil played. Area was packed. So many older white dudes with their casual shirts tucked in.
Agree great show, it really is wild how big they have gotten! Yes, it was chaos trying to park yesterday.
Nice. This would have been my show, but I'm travelling to see a buddy in NY instead, so looking forward to it in a few weeks. Personally I really hate the Roxy. I don't like the venue itself, and getting up to that area from the city (especially in the scenario you mentioned) is a nightmare. I prefer just about every single in city venue to that one. BUT - glad to hear your review of the show was that it was dope! Can't wait. I will be braving the Roxy traffic for Electric Callboy at the end of the month but I'll make a day of it and go to the Braves game prior.
That area makes me hate big cities even more than I do now. $60 for parking? What are we even doing as a society. Get bent. The sound was big, but did sound muddy(?). Vocals weren't the clearest. If every ATL show could be at the Tabernacle then I'd be thankful. Or, matter fact, if every show I wanted to see what just in Birmingham instead. Saw Brand New there in 2017 and then Bil now. I mean it was fine both times for me just the venue at least. Very easy to get in and out of the building. Not a fan of baseball in the slightest, but seeing a Braves game there would be cool. While tickets are $30 I'm going to snag mine to see Bil again in Sept in Birmingham.
Birmingham is making moves. I've noticed a trend that tours come to Atlanta in either the spring or fall, and when the band tours again (IE spring or fall), they hit Birmingham or Athens. Those 2 cities growing for music, are definitely taking bands out of Atlanta. Still yet to travel to either, but I'd like to.
Birmingham is definitely on the up when it comes to concerts. I’m finding myself less and less tempted by the ATL drive for a concert these days. Coming up this summer I’ve got Andy Hull, Bilmuri, Coheed, and BTBAM. We’re eating good, with tons of good venues.
