Time traveled to listen to this. Amazing album. I was a bit worried from the middling reactions from some people (mostly redditors so I probably should have taken their opinions with a grain of salt). I think it’s missing the novelty of AMS but I just love this sound he’s captured and he does it really well. KINDA HARD is an insane opening track and goes… kinda hard. I will say, I appreciate that this album doesn’t have as many singing features as AMS had. That was always my main gripe with that album and I’m a big fan of it being mostly all John. Can’t wait to see these songs live next month!
I’ve only listened to it once, but from what I remember just two songs. She might have smaller parts here and there, but I only remember two sax solos.
HARD2TELL is my current favorite. STARFISH SPREADER speaks to me for… reasons. ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN is the best ADTR song since Common Courtesy. Love this album so much!
Want to spend more time with this obviously but after one listen, I may like it more than AMS actually. I feel like there is a bit more going on with this one and the inclusion of the heavier tracks (and intro/interlude) provided for better pacing imo. Time will tell though
Lol this intro kind of feels like he's parodying Knocked Loose. EDIT: Where to Find Me with the random technical guitar solo out of nowhere like Spinnin' You Around on the last album EDIT 2: Yeah Back, Then is him at his best.
Man I think this is his best work. it's weird to see the generally negative reaction it's getting on reddit. I think rock circles just don't like anything country sounding
I love it. The early reviews on Reddit were from people who spun it once and were unhappy it wasn’t their version of perfection. My only gripe was I wanted more Gabi. I could be wrong but I think she’s actually on three tracks just supplying backing vocals on Waves. I’ll be spinning this all summer long.
I love Bilmuri. Admittedly was expecting a bit more impact form this though. Huge lacking of Gabi, not sure what that’s all about
I find when I listen to a whole album by this guy I start to notice how structurally, sonically and thematically a lot of the songs are very similar, not to mention generally being around the same tempo. there's a lot of genres in the mix but almost no variety in the songwriting.
