Echoing what everyone else in here is saying that this album is great. Between this and The Home Team's new record, I have my feel-good albums of the summer. I was bummed that my date of this tour was sold out, but luckily my boss was kind enough to get me on the guest list! Super stoked!
Just started listening to Bilmuri and am blown away by how great this album is. Probably AOTY so far. What other stuff of his worth checking out? Looks like he has a ton of stuff. I'm really into songs with the big choruses. Spinnin is my favorite song on the album so I'm looking for more stuff like that
Working backwards is probably a safe bet although I will say that stylistically you're gonna get some different flavors from his other projects. The alt-country vibes on AMS aren't as prevalent on the previous stuff. Still, huge choruses abound. I was stuck on Eggy Pocket for awhile but really really dig Goblin Hours and 400lb BS also. Haven't really ventured to the stuff before taco personally
I've been trying to catch up and listen to a bunch of 2024 stuff today and this is definitely my favourite listen of the day. Such a fun mix of sounds and I really like his vocals/melodies.
Caught Bilmuri show last night at Irving Plaza. Place was insane, packed wall to wall. I feel like he’s on the verge of a major breakout.
Best song of the year. I had to sell my tickets for tonight at 9:30 Club, honestly so bummed..... just too much going on with work and cant logistically swing going to DC and back on a weeknight. #adultingsucks
I’ve tried listening to some of the rest of Bilmuri stuff and it’s definitely much different than this. Any recommendations for which album to visit or is this one the best to this point?
It definitely feels the most fleshed out, and it feels like he really found his songwriting pocket here. Just work your way back is my recommendation. Don't miss the singles between this and the last album, Livin' Laughin' Lovin' and Boutta Cashew.
I’d say going backwards chronologically is probably your best bet. The newest one is certainly his most straightfoward and accessible, yet probably has his best “pop” songwriting. He’s been working towards this for a while
Goblin Hours and 400 lb Back squat haven’t really done anything for me. I’ve heard good things about Eggy Pocket so I’ll check that out but think I’ll stop there
Saw them in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Loudest crowd I've ever seen in that venue. The whole band is so good, especially the drummer, and Gabi's vocals are an incredibly fun addition to the live show. They had to cut the set short (no "Thicc Thiccly" or "2016 Cavaliers") because Johnny was sick, but they still rocked. Can't wait to see them again.
He mentioned that he royally messed up “2016 Cavaliers” whenever they played it last and needed help from the audience. But he rocked it.
I'm running a 50 mile trial race on the 7th when my show is on the 8th. My fear is I'm going to be too hobbled and achy to truly be able to trash and jump around like I want to with these songs. I can't wait.
Some huge pop stars have been releasing new versions of their albums with a bonus song here and there to try and keep their spot on the charts.
