Gonna hold off a week considering we've heard half the album already. Partially my fault since I haven't been able to stop listening to any of the singles.
Glad this is out tomorrow because this week has really just been a series of “which bilmuri song is going to be aggressively stuck in my head today” days Today I’m busting out my best country accent and every few minutes or so involuntarily belting WHY IS IT ALWAYS UP TO YOU WHEN I’M COLLATERAL DAMAGE
That said, would love for one or more of the remaining four songs on this to throw me a curveball. He’s really refined his songwriting/style with this batch of singles, they’re individually great, but even listening to just six in a row things really blend together
This is a very good album. His abililty to mix genres and create the catcthiest choruses possible is incredible.
Since I have to wait until midnight for this, I’m just going to share one of my favorites from him. Because it’s just too damn good
Edit: The album's solid, but I think he needs to take more risks musically. Write longer songs, faster songs. Switch up the formula more. Most songs are very similar to each other.
Between the rising popularity of bands like Turnstile and Knocked Loose, and the current renaissance of radio country, this feels like was made by AI to feed an algorithm and become the biggest thing on earth lol Really digging the songs that weren’t released. Love that closer especially. Exactly the kind of variation I was hoping to hear. I regret spoiling myself on all six singles but I really didn’t anticipate being this stoked for Bilmuri
I really really love this album. Wild to me that as a 2000s scene kid my favorite album of 2024 may be a pop-country/pop-punk album with lots of random saxophone by the dude who was in one of the most maligned bands of my teen years in attack attack lol.
I still don't fully know what to do with this. The songs are RIDICULOUSLY catchy, but something this tongue in cheek with freaking soundbites from Kevin James thrown in should not be this good, but these are seriously some of the best crafted pop songs I've heard all year.
You could just, enjoy it, man haha but yeah I agree - it just adds a layer over levity over the songs
Loving it all but I do wish I had cooled it just a bit with the 5 singles released. 2016 Cavaliers is really popping for me though. Out of the unreleased songs, Spinnin You Around and Straight Through You are major league bops. Miss me is the only one I'm a bit meh on.
Excited to give this a full listen. Looking at the track listing there’s only 3 songs we haven’t heard yet though.
4 right? Miss Me, Spinnin', Straight Through, Drunk Enough? But yeah, wish we had only 3 singles on a 28min album.
Anyways Emptyhanded is still one of the best one of the pop songs of the year...should be blasting out of every pickup truck across middle america instead of morgan wallen lol
I genuinely cannot believe we haven't seen a Bilmuri song yet in 3+ Seasons of Music League. The singles have been on repeat for me for months, and the album is great on first listen.
This album really does feel like a true fresh start for Bilmuri, like it's a reintroduction. His major label signing will hopefully propel him to the next level.
