Oh wow. She really just gave us exactly what we wanted, huh? I’m surprised and I love it, especially after the reception the shorter version got.
I love billie, but releasing the remix and slow/fast versions of the album absolutely undercuts her position of not caring about charts
literally any media player worth its salt will let you slow down/speed up tracks to your heart's content
Why is it so hard to understand THEY ALL CARE ABOUT CHARTS!! When did this become such a big deal? You'd think we were talking about presidential candidate campaign talking points
pretty sure she is more-so referencing the Youtube trend of (slowed + reverb), which I actually tend to enjoy and think this is a pretty smart move to release official versions. That may lend to the TikTok stuff though, I'm not sure. I don't have much interest in sped-up anything.
If I was having a 300k+ sales week and that wasn't enough for a number 1 in the year 2024, I would also do whatever I could to try to make it happen. Easy to say it doesn't matter, and in reality it doesn't, but it looks a lot nicer if you can say her first 3 albums debuted at #1 vs. debuted in the top 2. My point being: while it doesn't truly matter, it's going to follow her that this album wasn't number 1.
Sped up snippets in the context of TikToks can be fun, like that Lady Gaga one that was all the rage with the Wednesday dance. But I cannot imagine listening to more than a snippet like that, lol. Messing around with a slowed down track is more of a real thing in the right context, done the right way, though not something I have much experience with.
This is a fun little personal touch, all the merch she is selling is shown off by herself wearing it or holding the product Billie Eilish | Store
I can take this to the unpopular opinions thread if it's gonna start shit but I 100% believe Swift does this
She absolutely tries way too hard to artificially inflate her numbers when they start to decline, she always does. I don't believe that means it's a direct attack at Billie, or SZA, or whoever happens to have a new album out. I think it's just Taylor's extreme need to always break records and be on top regardless of who else is on the charts.
