Saw her last night and holy shit is she a good show. Closed with happier than ever and that song fucking gooooooooess.
Still love this album even though I always get annoyed when I think I’m nearing the title track and realize I still have like three to go.
It's weird to me that Happier Than Ever isn't the closer on this album. I always forget about Male Fantasy
Just saw her Gov Ball set and was pretty disappointed. Her vocals were basically muted the entire time. It was a little better on songs like Bad Guy because the crowd sang along, but songs like Overheated and Hailey’s Comet that the crowd didn’t know were basically instrumentals. Didn’t help that everyone around me was talking the entire time.
She sounded great at Firefly Fest anyways I've found that when Billie performs live in front of a loud audience, you kind of have to wear headphones to really pick her voice apart from all of the various background vocals she has going
Her performance at Gov Ball was pretty bad. She seemed out of breath on the more uptempo stuff and you couldn’t hear her for most of the set.
It's a tough one. You can either be engaging and exciting to the audience by jumping around and dancing, or you can stand in one place the whole time which is, imo, a little boring
Plenty of artists do choreo and still hit their vocals (Gaga, Kim Petras, Timberlake, Bieber, etc)…this was just a really bad performance.
Her team needs to take this into account then. Maybe turn down large outdoor festivals spots? Book smaller venues that can really cater to her vocal style? The LIB, Firefly, and Gov Ball sets (while having crazing energy from the crowd) all suffered from poor vocals or her vocals getting lost in the mix (from only 2 other musicians on stage?). Id much rather pay more for a ticket and see her in a venue that caters to her sound than on an arena tour where the crowd is going to drown her out in a cavernous arena.
Haha idk, you're talking to someone who spent most of his teenage years going to blink/TBS/MCR shows, so a less than perfect vocal performance never really bothered me as long as the people fronting the band threw an engaging and exciting show. I get why that isn't for everybody.
what is the argument being had here? did she maybe have a bad show? is that possible? i saw her in person thursday and she was all out fantastic. why are we doing this?
Are you asking why people are complaining on the internet??? :D tbh I don’t see the harm in people commenting on being disappointed by a performance. Everything gets commented on online (performances, songs, vinyl variation colors, etc.)
The Gov Ball and LIB performances were objectively bad on the vocal side. Whether it was bc of the crowd in a festival setting, her being out of breath, or just weak live vocals. Listen to the vocals on the Disney+ performance compared to that at the most recent festival shows. The annunciation and breath control is really lacking and it sounded sloppy.
