yeahhhh this is nuts. that Pfork score isn't surprising. Getting Radiohead vibes for sure but this also sounds kinda grungy at times? especially the opener.
The Pitchfork review also mentioned Radiohead/In Rainbows as a comparison and I think the writer is definitely onto something here: “The interlocking compositions, the points and counterpoints made by Meek, Lenker, Oleartchik, and Krivchenia have the same elegance of design.“
sent this to my dad to check out because he’s usually into any of the folky sounding stuff I play when we’re together. like most here he was a big fan of “Jenni” and said “the last 30 seconds of ‘Contact’ will wake you up”. not wrong.
I would also like to echo the Radiohead comparisons. Gorgeous album can’t wait to dive into it proper.
Yes. But I hear some grunge as well. Like quite a bit of Nirvana tbh. “Contact” is basically a Nirvana song. Edit: and yea see below, I hear more 2017 Radiohead influence than In Rainbows. AMSP.
Not on twitter anymore, so I'd like to take a moment to point out that "Jenni" also fits this description. 139 characters by my count (without including repeated lines), so would have been good on old twitter too
