Hopefully that unreleased song surfaces at some point Did anyone happen to record the livestream last night? The previous ones had a bad connection but last night's went on for over an hour. I was busy and tried to record for later but ran out of space in my phone.
I think the week of October 4 announcement holds some weight as a theory. Their current tour ends on Saturday the 2nd. Would make sense to do album announcement and promo during that time off before their Europe tour starts. Probably a big US tour next year.
I entered this raffle but haven’t heard anything yet so I’m guessing I didn’t win. James’s sister was the one collecting the raffle tickets, she was super friendly. They played Happiness the other night so I think that means Bruiser is the only new full band song they haven’t played yet on this tour
never done this kind of thing before but got a ticket to their other night at union transfer so officially going to both, excited to see how they switch up sets from one to two. also spun two hands last night and did not put together what 'the toy' was about until this listen....absolutely devastating shit, the lyrical theme realization makes me love that song quite a bit more.
also have not been paying any attention to any of the unreleased chaos going on with them as exhilarating as it is. maybe i should be but also thrilled to just go in blind to a whole new catalog
Another new song was played last night, "Promise is a Pendulum" Also someone on reddit said they have a boot of the Hi-Fi show that they'll upload today. Will repost when I see it
Big Thief article in the November issue of Mojo Magazine. No album title or release date but it does give some other details. Title: tbd Date: estimated early 2022 Length: Double LP, 20 songs Songs included: - Blurred View - Little Things - Promise is a Pendulum - Red Moon - Spud Infinity
A double LP is going to be sick. I was hoping we would get this in 2021 but I'm okay waiting until next year, it's only a few months away now. Plus with all the new songs being played I wouldn't be surprised if two albums are being worked on.
Saw them last night. Spectacular show. They even dressed up for the Ryman! (I’m assuming; I haven’t seen them look so dapper at any other show of theirs.) Adrianne played “Promise is a Pendulum,” and she noted it was the first time she’d ever played it for an audience. Very much in line, lyrically and musically, with songs like “Certainty,” “Sparrow,” etc. Also featured the longest and maybe the best performance of “Not” I’ve seen (even better than the one at Pitchfork Festival last week, which really blew me away when I watched the livestream.) Great setlist overall, covering a lot of the new songs we’ve already heard and what I would consider their “greatest hits” so far (“Shark Smile,” “Mary,” etc.) Really can’t overstate how good they were, and I felt very lucky to see them at the Ryman.
Early 2022 just seems so far away. Especially since we could maybe have 3 songs from the record already. 2 of them since August.
okay quality boot of the Hi-Fi show on Sept 8 - BT-9-8-21 58:19 "wake me up to drive" 62:19 Blurred View (restarted after ~2 min) edit- this is from reddit
Saw them last night. They were as good as everyone in here said they were live. Shark Smile really goes hard live, I loved it. Also the 10 minute insane noise shredding solo for “Not” haha. The new songs are also amazing, especially Spud Infinity I think it’s called?
“Wake Me Up to Drive” is just as good as I remember. So glad to hear it again. Hopefully it makes the record. and the verses absolutely sound like Adrianne channeling Springsteen/Flowers
CANNOT FUCKING WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND. i've been such a patient boy and not listened to anything non-officially released. I am elated to hear all these new songs for the first time live and then inhale the endless amount of bootlegs online.
Here's a song they played a few times in early 2018 and then never again. This is the first recording I've seen of it. Feels like it would have fit nicely on Demos Vol 1.
Mind maintenance got done promptly at 8:45 and I think BT went on a little before 9:20 and played until like 10:50
