Great song. Artwork makes a lot of sense with the sonic direction this song takes. Love the drums on this.
I want a 20+ song double album if I’m being greedy. also love the vocal presence of Buck on this song. Curious when we get our first Buck fronted BT song. Feels like it could happen on this record.
Yep that's another winner! Also I am very excited about the musical direction they seem to be headed in.
i feel like a long album is definitely possible since they've released three songs without even announcing the full thing yet
just got off my first shift at a new job and oh yes I will take a new Big Thief song thanks for asking
“Replaced” is so good. Maybe the track that has grown on me the most since Two Hands dropped. I think it was the performance they did of it in the camper that did it.
yeah the press release doesn't mention an album at all. tour starts today, maybe they'll mention the album at a show but i don't think they've ever done that in the past
Sorry if this has been covered and I missed it/forgot, but are we positive the album is done? Feels like they might have a ton of songs in the bag, still aren't sure which ones are making the cut, and said "fuck it let's do some singles"
Max referenced an album in an instagram caption that he later deleted. Also this single was released with the same art as the previous two so I imagine these songs have to all be on a larger release with that artwork
no clue why this combo hits for me, but the idea of a double record with that campfire sketch artwork seems so magnificent. please let things unfold that way
Just got home from the Indianapolis show. So good. Just an incredible band. Buck Meek has such stage presence, was not ready for that. Adrianne is an incredible front woman, so sweet and humble. they played a bunch of new stuff, all of it sounds fantastic. “Change”, “Dried Roses”, “Simulation Swarm”, “Once a Buncha Times”, and at least 3-5 others. I believe one was “Dragon”, which was basically Big Thief doing Korn-lite (that’s gonna overstate it, but at least in the live setting the pulsing heavy riff definitely stood out from a lot of their stuff, like a little heavier than the heaviest stuff on Capacity). There was another new one that sounded so fantastic, a great riff coupled with James pounding the kick drum as Adrianne sang about waking her up to drive even if she’s too tired because she doesn’t want to miss the ride, a highlight. “Black Diamonds” was surprisingly the highlight of the night for me. Not one of the songs I would put in my top 10, but IMO the song that levels up the most live. So good. I actually yelled out for “Once a Buncha Times”, and the band responded, which has never happened to me before. They were surprised I knew it and Buck asked if I had been reading their mail. A cool moment and a great return to live music. Edit: Adrianne also played “Indiana” after someone yelled out for it….a really special moment, which she admitted was emotional after playing it and she recounted some childhood memories. songs they played off top of my head not in order Change Shoulders Masterpiece Black Diamonds Shark Smile Not Indiana Wake Me Up to Drive (?) Dried Roses Simulation Swarm Dragon (?) Cattails Forgotten Eyes Once a Buncha Times
Was the unknown song this one? I think it’s called “Red Moon” Looks like a great setlist. Black Diamonds from Bunker Studio is so good, I’d love to see that live. How was full band Simulation Swarm?
I’ll check that video out. Full band “Simulation Swarm” is great. Adrianne added an incredible little riff (I think it came after each chorus) and it has this great guitar tone, I’m not sure what guitar she played it on, but it looked specific to “Simulation Swarm”, because I don’t think I saw it before or after.
