Big Thief - Masterpiece (May 27, 2016) Album

Female fronted indie punk, this comes out May 27th on Saddle Creek.

 

Damn, I'm getting a lot of deliveries May 27th.

 

Paul is a hell of a song.

 

At this point I'm just gonna wait but really excited to hear the record

 

This might be my most anticipated out of all the records coming out on the 27th

I've been so excited for Thrice, The Hotelier, and Pup that I completely forgot this was coming out. I'll have to check it out later.

This shot up my AOTY list hella fast. Just a fucking awesome album from top to bottom. Wish more people were checking this out.

 

So I'm seeing them July 12th, and I'm very fucking excited. Can't seem to find who they're touring with anywhere, though. Anybody know that info (psssst, @cwhit) so I can drum up?

seems like it's just random support/supporting bigger bands throughout

nah it's very different for every show, cody's date is a headliner for them, but they've done a bunch of support dates on this tour as well supporting bigger bands like that.

 

Oh, man, really? You should check them out, I really like this record. A more subdued, twangy Hop Along.

i go back to half of it a ton, and listen to it as a whole consistently. still loving it.

 

I love "Velvet Ring" so much. Reminds me of a surreal spin on a jewelry box melody, oddly enough, given the title. I love how their arrangements really sprawl out without ever feeling meandering. That's a hella tough line to walk.

 

the part at 2:30 on real love where she goes "Real love makes your lungs black" and then disappears into a wall of feedback gives me chills every time.

 

They're great live. Saw them open for Yuck here just over a month ago, and am excited to see them headline so soon.
