Love this! 4 dragon bsides and 1 topanga demo. Since they released these less exciting songs, I'm guessing that means they still have some plans for the bigger ones

 

it's so wild they won't put heavy Dragon on anything but they used the Japan bonus track from Dragon again for this lol

that being said Imagination is unreal, worth the price alone

 

I need to buy this. I still haven’t gotten the Palestine comp yet either. I’m slacking.

 

I feel like Light As Light on here makes sense. It's a good song but not really strong enough to be worth releasing as a standalone single so might as well include it on this. I do not know why they would change the title though

Worst case, I think we'll get heavy Dragon and other bsides for the 10 year anniversary. Only 7 years to go

 

I just think it's funny that these are described as unreleased songs and that one was in fact released lol. it's not a big deal, I actually do like it a lot, more than a few songs on the second half of Dragon

yeah definitely seems like it! only two dates so far which were both part of a venue's full season schedule announcement. plus opening artist TBA, presumably a full tour opener. hopefully it's longer than their festival tour last year

hell yeah, awesome that they're recording again. this is at Jonathan Wilson's Fivestar Studio in Topanga, CA

buck previously said they were working on writing three albums. presumably this is album number two. hopefully they record #3 before touring in september and then start the rollout out by end of year

yeah!! during Buck's songwriting workshop in April of last year, he said they spent time together recently to write their next three albums

the recent January recording session in NYC seemed like a complete album based on the tape reels pictured. and Happy With You did not appear to be part of that session, so I don't think the current session is just overdubs, I would assume it's a separate album session. we'll see if they tease any more over the next week or two

Dragon was 4 sessions in 2020, released in 2022. so an album releasing this year feels unlikely but if each session is a separate thing then maybe?

 

Honestly can’t go all of 2025 without a new record. Though I understand the impulse to get as many records in the can as possible while the creative juices are flowing.

More likely some sort of solo session I think. Nick Hakim hasn't been involved in any band stuff yet and he wasn't in NYC while they were recording in January. It's cool to see her working with Sarlo again, it's been a few years. Excited for whatever this is!!

Also looks like BT is currently still recording in LA

 

So that's the album out by October, can't imagine they play a venue like that without a new record in tow.
