It’s adventure, sorry to disappoint lol

I made it about halfway through adventure before I had to stop for dinner and all but I liked it enough that I’ll be checking out the rest of their stuff

You guys were talking before about what go you into Big Thief. For me, I listened to Capacity when it came out and felt it wasn’t for me (although now I really like it). For some reason I went back and listened to Masterpiece. Vegas and Real Love just blew me away.

I liked UFOF after the release hype, but it didnt stun me like it does now. I heard 'Not' on XMU driving in a snow storm before Two Hands was out and it floored me. Some reason everything clicked and i saw the greatness - never looked back after that.

I’ve gotta revisit that one, I was a little disappointed when I checked it out but I might have just been in the wrong headspace.

album version is honestly even better but this is the one that really blew my mind

yep it's official, back half of this is officially kicking my butt as well now. everything about "the only place" is making me emotional af, and also the chorus of "12000 lines" has some seriously timeless James Taylor-esque moments

  9. UFOF did it for me for sure. Those big fat bright bass lines on that record are still some of my favorite sounds this band has ever made

  10. I really wish I could make the Boston show but I am just too lazy to drive 2 hours both ways on a Wednesday. New York a possibility too but I'm going to be really pushing my luck asking to stay with friends there the weekend before they're putting me up for like 5 days for Phish :worried:

I loved Masterpiece when it came out, then Mythological Beauty made me really pay attention, then UFOF became one of my favorite records ever and this new one is already up there. Wild to watch a pretty solid band turn into a generational group so quickly.

I was pretty much in by Capacity bc Mythological Beauty knocked me off my ass. a few of the songs on that record were kinda a challenge for me at the time, and I barely gave Masterpiece the time of day (idk why, obv it was a mistake). UFOF came out and I think I was more impressed by it at first than I did truly enjoy it on the whole, but then when Not dropped I was blown away by it much like Mythological Beauty. once Two Hands dropped I basically only listened to this band for a couple weeks and eventually the songs that didn’t quite grab me at first started to stick. that said, none of that prepared me for how much my fandom would skyrocket with this record. their records have never been this immediate for me and I think this has really opened up their prior ones even more for me in a way, I’m particularly loving going back to Masterpiece after this lately. all in all I do think this album is their greatest yet, and I actually think the length is one of its major strengths.

I'm sure other songs will grow on me, but this was an immediate favorite. I hope they experiment more in this style.

Yeah, I'm imagining a future album that goes down the bleary electronic lane of this song and "Wake Me Up To Drive". Feels like a really good route for them.

Every song on this is so good. 12,000 Lines is growing on me a lot. I've also come way around on how good of an ending Blue Lightning is.

"BLue Lightning" is probably my least favorite track by a mile. Definitely gives off the vibe that they're ramblin' on down the road (and it's certainly appropriate, given the dirt highway trippin' vibes), but after 19 songs I want a final climax vs a simple shuck and jive. An unsatisfying denouement.

I think “I wanna live forever till I die” is the perfect climax.

I'm not ranking these songs but Blue Lightning is absolutely a highlight of my first few listens

No skips no cuts, album is just great all the way through.

I’ll be dancing at whatever New England show there is (too lazy to check but I’ll be there). This album is so versatile, new favorite every day but Little things and Sim Swarm are my top right now for sure, ironic since the only single I really loved was No Reason (which is still another favorite of mine )
