Big Thief really made their own lane. Absolutely flooring to experience this band's output from Masterpiece until now thinking, "How can they top themselves next?" each time, then finding out that sure enough, their musical creativity and Adrianne's lyrical brilliance haven't found a limit.

 

I’ve tried a couple of times to make an updated top 15/20 song list. Legitimately impossible. The amount of great songs they’ve amassed in 5 years is absurd.

 

I just looked and there isn’t a song I could cut, I could probably come up with my favorite least favorites if I tried though

 

I patiently await the part 2 of this album,

I really wanted to do this to see how I viewed the balance of the record. Pretty balanced! I’m not surprised at my top 3, feel like those tracks all have that Big Thief “swirl” to them, my favorite sonic avenue of theirs.

“No Reason” has really been the only track on this that I’ve never been sold on entirely. Love the flute, but the chorus and production always felt a little schmaltzy for BT.

 

Is it the flute solo that knocks it down for you too?

 

Sounds like half return crossed with the king of limbs

 

This band man. I need that.

 

I think it’s the choir like vocal harmony during the chorus coupled with the flute. I quite like the actual solo.
