what is this website’s obsession with people who suck

 

Does posting a review = obsession? I thought it was relevant to share a review from one of the most relevant music reviewers right now. Love or hate him, a good review from him is good for the band, no?

 

“if it’s made by someone popular it must be worth sharing” is not a posting philosophy of mine

baffling logic there, you know how popular ben shapiro is, right? there should probably be one or two other reasons for someone not so post his stuff

 

Come on lol. A popular music reviewer isn't the same as Ben Shapiro, no matter how much you don't like him that's a bizarre analogy. I certainly don't always agree with TheNeedleDrop but this site is weirdly obsessed with bashing him, he's certainly one of the most relevant music critics out there currently.

i didn’t say he was the same thing lol. i said using the logic of “well, he’s relevant! why not share it?” is incredibly stupid and could be applied to a lot of awful people. and Ronald McDonald is absolutely the shapiro of album reviews lol

 

remember when he flirted with MAGA bros on his alt channel and then said it was satire when he got found out

 

Whoever said they wanted this band to get as much attention as blink does on this site has almost gotten their wish lol, thread is a Hotbed of Discourse and I’m not about it

 

Back on topic: does anyone else’s eco vinyl kinda sound like shit? Lots of surface noise and her vocals are clipping/distorted in some places where they aren’t on the digital version. Going by Discogs I’m not the only one with this problem but I’m curious how widespread it is

Disagreed that he's the Shapiro of album reviews. I'd say it was worth sharing because it's a positive review of this album from objectively one of the most popular music critics out there currently... whether you like him or not he's really popular, so I think @Badtasteinmusic was thinking "Hey this can only be a good thing for this band". It's similar to when people share Pitchfork reviews imo, I certainly don't always agree with them but they're gonna be part of the discourse.

 

he offers no insight and people respond to nothing about his reviews but the numerical rating! some pitchfork reviews are well-written! (the one for this record is in fact pretty good)

 

if you want to indiscriminately share things regardless of quality because they're part of the conversation... ok i guess but it sucks imo

 

I noticed a few spots on side a, but the rest of the sides sounded good to me.

 

I actually felt this review offered SOME good insight and he picked up on a few things I missed. Again, not saying this is the holy grail or anything like that, but I found parts of it interesting. Totally cool you didn’t, to each their own!

 

Same. Really disappointing sound on certain tracks with lots of crackles and surface noise.

 

It's definitely more pronounced on Side A (soooo much clipping on Change) but I noticed it throughout

 

My VMP preorder of this record just got here today so hopefully it sounds better than the eco one. I'm afraid it might be an issue with how it was mastered for vinyl tho which would mean maybe all pressings have the issue? Not sure exactly how that works

 

Funny because the way this album is mastered it should sound fantastic on vinyl. I personally thought disc 2 sounded flawless tho

I have the eco vinyl shipping soon but I'm not going to cancel it, I'll sacrifice some audio quality for an eco friendly vinyl i guess
