This album is like a warm, sad blanket

 

THis grew on me a lot

 

what's some other stuff from this year in this vein lyrically, in any genre? i tend to be really drawn to narrators who take an emotionally intricate yet neutral point of view

closest thing i found was the yj record but the lyrics are deliberately less of a focus and there are some less than stellar moments

 

did you listen to the lomelda record?

 

i have not, i'll check it out!

 

my very picky friend liked it a lot, i'm bad with lyrics so idk if it'll hit that exact spot but based on his own preferences as well as the sonic direction of that i think you'd be into it

 

between this, julien and phoebe we had a really fucking great year for rip your heart out sad music.

 

and you didn't even mention mt eerie in that group lol

 

man i dont know that this gets the cred it deserves. such an utterly devastating album.

Gripped my ticket to them opening for Julien Baker and Courtney Barnett this summer. That shows gonna rule for sure

 

Also still gotta listen to Buck’s stuff. Love the talent in those two

 

A pair of new songs performed two nights ago in Paris. This is incredible.

 

nice, would expect to hear more from them soon... too prolific

 

This is the best album of 2017/one of the best of the decade. They are amazing.
