Really enjoyed this show. I got more out of it as a look into womens' friendships, relationships, and modern motherhood than I did as a murder mystery. I enjoyed that aspect of it as well though. Great cast and writing. Do we think that the very end where you see the group on the beach through a binoculars view is the detective who knew they were lying watching them?
Definitely the detective, you hear the flipping of the zippo lighter she plays with throughout right as it cuts to credits
Also didn't that class hippo have one of its legs ripped off while the twins had it? That's when I figured it was one of them
I'm baffled at all of the think pieces coming out about this re: it being a groundbreaking "Peak TV–vanquishing Event Series"
I do appreciate that that Ringer article couldn't go two sentences before plugging the leftovers tho.
This series was amazing, just watched it all in a couple days. Incredible acting, amazing direction, really great stuff
I remember seeing the preview for this a while back and dismissing it as some soap opera / softcore waste of time. Oh how wrong I was. Especially the last few episodes. Kidman and Witherspoon were absolutely incredible.
A bit of a stretch, but yes the writer of the novel has thought about it. “I have started to think about ways this could continue,” Moriarty told the Herald. “The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn’t write a new book but perhaps a new story, and then we’ll see what happens.” “The obvious thing is, first of all, I think we could bring in more of Bonnie’s story from the book,” Moriarty added. “And also what happens next [for Celeste, played by Kidman]. That’s the question that’s also a really interesting thing, when you’ve been through a relationship like that, how do you feel now? How would she feel? She’s grieving. She’s still grieving for the end of a terrible relationship and I think that would be a really interesting thing to explore. So there’s a whole lot of different storylines.”
If they did a second season, I think I would want to start to start fresh with new characters and a new story arc
I definitely would hope that it doesn't spend much time on the police investigation. I don't think that would be all that interesting
Reese already bought the tv/film rights to the authors next book, so I'd rather see that get adapted next
I loved it but deff don't want a second season But The Leftovers first season covered the entire book and I said it should just end there and then it become the greatest thing ever. So shrug.
