Agreed with a lot of this. She wasn't my pick to win, but as Dr. Will said any of the final three would be worthy winners. And yeah, Kyle getting top 3 for America's Favorite was shocking! I figured Taylor, Michael, and maybe Turner or Monte?
First black woman to win (BB3 Danielle should have gotten this, can't believe it took 20+ more seasons) First to win the game and also AFP First to win after being on the block for the first eviction Broke the record for winner with most times on the block Pretty impressive
I think one of the most impressive parts of her game was last night. Her speech could have absolutely won some votes. I didn't think Monte was bad in the jury Q&A or final speech, but she absolutely crushed those portions of the competition!
Not that it’s been shown a lot on the show, but Monte definitely has a lot of internalized misogyny as well. The way he talks about women when they’re not around is not ok. I don’t doubt that played into his decision to bring Taylor, he was cocky and thought he could beat her/thought Turner was somehow more impressive.
I didn't know that it was possible to win the game and AFP, I always presumed if the winner of the game got the most AFP votes it went to the second highest vote getter. Has this been the case in the past, or did I just assume incorrectly?
Her speech was definitely impressive but apparently she didn't even need it. In an interview, Turner said that during a commercial break the jury told him that they all decided to vote for Taylor at the end of the round table. So she already had it in the bag! I feel like that makes all of their reactions even better. They already planned to vote for her and then she absolutely crushed the speech anyway.
I tried mentioning this recently but couldn't find any good/concise clips to share for reference. Talking with Terrance, he had said Taylor was "not acting right" as if there was a way she was expected to act. He said he liked Taylor when he was in power cause she was nice but when Taylor had power then she was cold, suggesting he only liked her when she was in danger/overly friendly. He asked why she can't just be nice and friendly all the time. There was a really embarrassing one last week where Taylor and Monte discussed the Final 4 HOH comp tiebreaker. I can't find a clip of it but this was the basic convo: Taylor: I thought it was somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes so I guessed 480 seconds which is 8 minutes. Monte: No, that would be 4 minutes...wait... Taylor: 6 x 8 is 48, so it's 8 minutes Monte: Well, 600 seconds would be 10 minutes, so 300 would be 5 minutes. So 480 would be somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. So somewhere in there... Taylor: Oh... I guess maybe my math was wrong Ridiculously cocky and incorrect mansplaining. Thinks he's so good at math and far superior to "women". Taylor previously said she hates people that say "the women" and Monte said it all the time. This is just a few examples but yeah he was not good. So so glad he didn't win.
It was great watching all of their proud reactions. Joseph and Michael specifically were beaming when she was going through her final speech.
Even the way Monte reacted to Taylor mentioning that he was away from his niece(?) for the last 3 months and taking off his headphones while he was sleeping seemed a bit much.
I could understand being annoyed initially at the goddaughter situation. She had a poor choice of words, but as soon as she explained/apologized that should've been it. The headphone thing was really silly. Probably just overreacting because he's still heated from the goddaughter comment, is my guess.
I listened to the first 3 hours or so while working. It's nice to hear Taylor's thoughts and also her reactions to what is shown on the episode versus what happened in the house.
i do wonder why those were the seasons selected to go to netflix since they are both dan's seasons. makes me think dan will be involved next year in some capacity
