still one of my favorite albums of the year. i enjoyed this immensely more than the self titled from the get go
This is on par with the s/t. Hard to pick. My favorite songs of her career are still at the opening of 4 though.
She just performed Daddy Lessons with Dixie Chicks on the CMAs and dropped a studio version of the collaboration too!
It was such a treat to see the Dixie Chicks cover that on tour this summer! It was pretty epic to see them perform it together just now! And to have a recorded version is quite a bonus
I'm not really into them, but this version is purdy cool. I love that they covered it on tour on their own accord and now this exists, really cool
Although I always liked her and DC, I was never a big fan of Beyonce albums (yet I somehow own several of them) which is why I took my time to get to this album. I have listened to it several times over the last few weeks and I think it's the album of the year. Also, Daddy Lessons is maybe the best Country song I have heard this year (mind you, I haven't listened to a lot of country this year). The way she channels both Southern Soul artists and Dolly Parton is amazing.
I feel like we don't talk enough about how amazing it is that she's a pop star who seems to have transcended being singles oriented
It's because she's an R&B singer (with an extensive musical history) that was embraced by a mainstream audience, rather than some random pop singer executives created in a lab
