The Parallax II: Future Sequence is my favorite of theirs. The new one, Coma Ecliptic was in my top 10 for 2015.
Oops, I meant Colors through Future Sequence haha. I am sleep deprived and very sick right now. But yeah Future sequence is great. I have been meaning to give Coma Ecliptic a shot. I heard like one song off of it but that's it.
There's a little less screaming and it's a little more proggy. I'd rank it ahead of The Great Misdirect but still below Colors and Parallax II.
I was in awe when I sas them perform Ants of the Sky and White Walls live last year. They didn't play either when I saw them the first time in 2014.
this is one of those bands that got better and better with each new album and then... completely lost me immediately after reaching their highest point so weird anyway, that album is Colors and it is an absolute masterpiece
In what way is The Great Misdirect space metal? A lot of casual fans seem to not realize the album exists, despite featuring arguably the band's tightest guitar work and most concise songwriting.
Coma Ecliptic is their best album and one of the best albums of this decade. Colors has nothing on Coma.
WHOA dere boy. I love Coma Ecliptic but I personally think Colors was a piece of art that just can't be replicated. To each their own though. Coma Ecliptic was definitely more of a coherent concept album. And yes, Obfuscation is definitely in my top 10. My favorite track off the album their though though is Disease, Injury, Madness Not a popular opinion, but in terms of a one-track magnum opus, my vote goes to Silent Flight Parliament.
I get that the change in direction threw some people off. But coincidentally that's exactly what the lyrics to White Walls are about.
The released one EP and a one LP that were spaced theme and then they are "totally space metal" and aren't good? Parallax I and II are really well done and there is a lot to enjoy. and Coma Ecliptic is not a space metal record at all.
I didn't see anybody say that the albums weren't good, just that they lost interest in the band. I personally love the Parallax releases and Coma Ecliptic but I understand it. I completely lost interest in The Sword after Gods of the Earth.
