I definitely do. Picked up the vinyl recently. The run from Never Seen / Future Shock to Bad Habits is an incredible 4 song run IMO.
This album is such a triumph. Didn't really think the guys had something like this in them any more, but I'm glad they were able to pull it off.
listened to Colors 1 & 2 again last week, both for the first time in forever. I really cant believe they thought they did something with this album to call it Colors 2. it has almost zero of the structuring that made Colors 1 what it was. id never call this album bad but to my previous point, its baffling and it feels like theyre in a place with their career where they dont understand their own work. it is not 1/4th as thoughtful or deliberate as Colors 1.
I love this band starting with Alaska and even most of Silent Circus, But Coma Ecliptic and Colors II are mostly misses for me. Like you said, yes they are not bad, but they just don’t have “it” to me. (you only meant about Colors II but I’m saying it about both)
i need to listen to coma ecliptic and automata again. i think id checked out after coma. but maybe id like it more now who knows cant remember. i thought parallax 2 was already an unthoughtful and undisciplined colors rife with kitchen sink stuff that didnt mesh or musically transition but then they went and also did colors 2 similar. still plenty of cool moments on parallax 2 tho. and i actually loved prallax 1.
Unfortunately I doubt it. I would guess it's still just health issues. Did they have a 2nd guitarist or did they use a backing track?
Tristan played instead usually they announce if someone is missing due to health issues. I’m not holding my breathe but I’m hoping.
Oh interesting, I checked out Sometime in February recently because they signed to Inside Out, had no idea he was the guy filling in.
What’s the deal with Bryan Christner, from a cursory glance it looks like he just does a lot of legal for a lot of bands. Of course Parlatore is a chud-ass former Trump lawyer and a very … interesting choice for Dustie to have represent him.
If it really was just the performance stuff that would be kind of crappy to do, but obviously the right move if the allegations are true. Almost wonder if they’re firing him because of the allegations but wanted it officially to be another, certifiably true reason.
I never kept up with this band after Great Misdirect for whatever reason. I've been playing catch up over the past couple of weeks and Parallax 1 & 2 really blew me away. Getting into Coma Ecliptic right now and it's quite different but I'm digging it.
My tier 1 of BTBAM releases is Colors 1 and 2 and Parallax 2. I need to give Parallax 1 a dedicated listen soon, never grabbed me like their full lengths.
I thought they handled the Dustie stuff well? As far as I remember, they replaced him on the tour they were going on, then booted him out of the band after the tour was over. Was there more to it?
