I’ve managed to avoid anything released since the EP. Quite easy in 2024 when there’s so much new stuff to listen to every day.
Idk man, when one of my favorite bands puts out new music I listen to it and love it. I don’t strap myself into the musical cuck chair in the corner and anxiously wait my turn.
Maybe some prefer to wait to listen to the whole thing as their first experience. I feel get so hyped up when one of my favorite bands release the single that by the time the album comes out i'm skipping that track because i've listened to it so much.
Ugh, that was the worst. I remember being so disappointed when I learned the lead single (which was mediocre at best for me) was the album closer. I'll never understand it.
I never listen to singles anymore, it spoils the album experience for me. No shade on anyone that does listen to singles, it just doesn’t feel right hearing something out of sequence. Give me an album full of new songs over an album that has some singles I’ve heard already any day.
Hearing a single on an album after months of listening to it recontextualizes it and breathes new life into the song
Definitely in the camp of avoiding singles before the album drops. I also don't watch trailers before seeing a movie that I already know I'm going to see. Why see an incomplete version of an artist's full vision when you could just wait a little while and get the whole thing? Also agree that it helps that I have a huge backlog of media to consume at all times.
I actively avoid trailers now after how bad The batman spoiled the end of probably their biggest scene.
watching trailers for movies you know you're gonna watch anyway is... certainly a choice imo releasing the closer as a single? if you're mad about this you need to touch grass.
Imagine its February 2003, you're in the car with your friends and everybody is jamming listening to the radio. DJ hypes it up and starts to play the new Linkin Park song "Somewhere I Belong". Everybody is STOKED. But you take and rip the headunit faceplate off of your Pioneer radio that can display that cool dolphin on the screen just because you "want a pure experience when the album comes out in March". You are murdered in a barn by your friends shortly after.
Hahahaha thank you for reminding me how we used to take the faceplates off CD players in cars. I remember my older brother doing that and keeping his in his jacket pocket so people wouldn't be tempted to break in and steal it. I have no idea if that was actually a thing.
Saw them on their headliner this past spring, and the opener of the album was my favorite of the unreleased songs they played. Very excited to hear it again in a little bit!
Album is very good, though subsequent relistens to "White Horse" have revealed it as "Post Boredom Pt II" and it's tough to unhear haha. Looking forward to their future evolution, and we should probably all be pleased that Greg's lyrics are too generically pissed off to read any specific politics from
Lie Between The Lines is a fucking ripper holy shit Opening the album with a sludgy banger just like on Low Teens and Radical... we are so back
The riff during Future Myopia's breakdown... how do they still come up with stuff like that this late into their career
