Peter Gould is still running the show. He was always basically Gilligan's hand-picked successor from Day 1 of this series and was obviously also heavily involved in Breaking Bad as well. This show will be fine.
Yeah I remember reading before the show even started that Gilligan was only planning to co-showrun the first season or two
For anyone who is interested, I'll be recapping this show at Hidden Remote. For some reason they're actually paying me to do this and it goes by # of page views so those clicks help me out a lot. Definitely don't read before watching, though, which is probably self-explanatory when it comes to recaps. ‘Better Call Saul’ Season 3, Episode 1 Recap ‘Mabel’
That Mike plot was so amazing. The scene taking apart the car, the ongoing mystery of what he was doing... great payoff
Nice little Lily of the Valley reference just subtly slipped into the show. Jonathan Banks is so great in this.
I'd watch a season of Jonathan Banks mulling around doing things and just be riveted like "what are you up to now old man" haha Has he won anything for this show? I don't keep up on award shows.
I agree. It wasn't my favorite opener, but far from boring. Episode is great. I forgot how much I love/hate the slow burn element of the show. Can't wait for next week.
Great to have this back. I love how they handled the inevitable appearance of Gus. Banks' Mike is such an intelligent character and really thrives in these solo scenes. The circle of Kim-Jimmy-Chuck will certainly explode when Chuck's intentions with the tape become reality. I have a feeling it'll be a heartbreaking moment for Kim.
My biggest question mark at this point in the series is what's going to become of Chuck by the end. Whether he dies or just becomes completely estranged from Jimmy, who knows. Would also be kind of interesting if he was just completely incapacitated somehow and it turns out Jimmy was taking care of him the whole time behind the scenes during Breaking Bad. I don't know, that's just what I'm most curious about.
I'm more curious to see what happened with Chucks wife. Unless they mentioned it somewhere, and I missed it.
Just got to watch the premiere last night, exactly what I wanted. I just love that feeling of not knowing what is completely going on (Mike finding the tracking device, then ordering his own etc.), having that feeling of confusion that kinda sucks, but THEN everything pieces itself together beautifully sooner than later. It's the best. Also, episode was not boring.
