Jimmy moving the parking sign one spot over in the last episode was Bugs Bunny level shit and I love how this show can pull off that kind of comedy.
I’m not 100% but it seems like their “D-Day” plans involved having that actor play the judge and enter HHM to confuse/manipulate Howard and co into some sort of Sandpiper play (pushing them to make an immediate deal instead of more waiting and negotiating id wager). That was knocked off track when Jimmy happened to see the judge in the liquor store with the sling and cast, knowing their ruse now wouldn’t work.
Have we seen Howard’s wife before? They are really leaning into humanizing him and trying to get the audience to sympathize with him and tbh it’s working for me. I know something terrible is headed his way and I know he’s been kind of a pig throughout the show but idk i feel bad for him right now
It would feel rushed, but I can’t help but think next week’s episode is going to introduce Jesse and Walt as the mid-season finale cliffhanger.
That seems to make sense. I've honestly lost track of all the HHM/Sandpiper stuff because I haven't watched this show on a continuous binge. Like, waiting two years for this season and I've basically forgotten all the small details of anything said or done in previous seasons. Hell, I practically forget what happened the prior week. I can only recall major event stuff like Chuck burning, the engineer's death, Jimmy drinking his piss in the desert, the shootout at Lalo's house, Nacho's death, etc...
I'm not sure even the most incredible of mid-season payoffs justifies how boring this is right now. It's just not fun to watch. DARK LIGHTING. Gus is still nervous about Lalo...no suspense though because Lalo's in Germany. Montage of Howard getting up and making a drink because he's fastidious, don't you know? Kim and Jimmy still going ahead with their plan to destroy Howard because...reasons. MORE DARK LIGHTING. Aside from episode three, this has been a season of stylishly shot setups. Such protracted storytelling. They can do a carefully paced, methodical buildup so much better than this.
Wait, I am just realizing now that Jimmy was looking at photographs taken of him talking to the fake judge (with no arm in sling). Did they know that Howard would hire a PI? I am still unsure of what will be happening at HHM.
I wouldn't argue against the past two episodes being slower and creating more questions, but I have still enjoyed them thoroughly. In fact, I wish they were longer. I also have faith that next week will provide a pay off for sure.
was expecting Lalo to go after Kai honestly after all the buildup about him being a loudmouth idiot. Kasper was a surprise but that scene was fucking cool
maybe they just thought Kasper was more convincing swinging a goddamn axe around and who am I to disagree
I honestly thought that was Rhea portraying Kim’s mom and they kinda white trashed her up slightly. My mind is blown that isn’t Rhea. lol
So this was the first episode where it kind of ran into that prequel problem of unnecessary scenes and lack of tension because we know what's going to happen. That whole scene with Mike was just pointless (unless they go wild and kill his granddaughter and have her be a figment of his imagination in BB lol). The whole Gus plot was similar but I think it worked in a way as it contrasted from his cool calm demeanor all BB, but it still lacked tension. Like did anything think Lalo was actually going to pop up at his shop? It would have made no sense for any of the events going forward. My other thoughts: - Surely Howard had to see Jimmy/Kim sitting outside on the blanket through his PI but whether he gets that info before or after whatever they have planned, who knows (more on that below). - They obviously filmed something with the fake actor who doesn't have a broken arm but now needs one, but I don't know what it is yet (anyone figured it out?). - I also don't really know what those black and white pictures were that Jimmy was looking at when he noticed the judge? Someone above seemed to mention they looked like the PI picture so is that guy that Howard hired on Jimmy and Kim's payroll and working to set up Howard? - Still not exactly sure what dots Lalo is going to connect and how he'll get back undetected but we'll find out. I get it's always been a slower show, and has often had NOTHING to do with BB for long stretches, and it would be abrupt to speed it up without some build up first, but I honestly think the pacing at the minute is too slow for where we are (and yes, I've watched every season week to week, never on Netflix in binge - except I did 1 rewatch it all before last season).
Also I'll spoiler this but from the reddit bettercallsaul forum. This is a fan theory at next weeks episode. I still think there's some holes in and it's not utilizing all the information we've been given thus far but we'll see. Jimmy and Kim know Howard has a PI following them Jimmy takes out a shit ton of money so it will look like he’s being nefarious Jimmy intentionally gets himself photographed with the ‘judge’ Howard sees the photos and wonders why Jummy is meeting with the judge Someone slips the amphetamine in Howard’s drink Before the hearing During the hearing Jimmy does something to draw attention to himself in subtle way to everyone but Howard. A wink at the judge before the hearing or something. Howard gets suspicious and ultimately accuses Jimmy of bribing the judge in a public forum. He looks high and out of it. Clifford confronts him and says he knows about his drug problem. The judge says he never met Jimmy before and has no clue what Howard is talking about. Howard’s reputation is shattered. Main settles. Jimmy and Kim get their money.
