Haha yeah, Emmy's. I didn't realize this was the BCS thread. Thought it was the Entertainment General thread because someone had posted the nominations in there.
Odenkirk, Seehorn, Dalton, Mando, and Banks all deserved nods over more than one of the nominees in each of their respective categories. I truly don't know what the TV Academy has against this show that causes them to consistently under-award it, they loved BB.
Lmao what is Steve Carell nominated for? His mediocre job in Space Force? I admittedly liked that show a lot more than others, but his accent he puts on is pretty rough
the awards shows were never good but they’ve definitely been cheapened further as of late. critically looking at the types of movies and shows that they are starting to routinely recognize and it’s kinda funny and disheartening.
After the Game of Thrones shit last year nothing surprises me. I think this show is something like 0 for 32 in total Emmy nominations. Maybe it'll get one or two in it's last season but fuck the Emmys
It’s only frustrating because they’ve awarded this universe previously. It’s not like it’s a foreign concept. Hell Giancarlo got a nomination
The Game of Thrones thing is easily understandable when one considers that the Emmys often like to celebrate the entire run of a popular series when it's over. Happens very frequently. Shouldn't think of that win as a win for the final season specifically, more as a win for the show overall. But yeah the thing that really makes no sense about this is that Breaking Bad absolutely drowned in Emmys during its run. Cranston won, like, almost every season. It's bizarre that this show, in comparison, isn't winning anything. Maybe it's because the TV Academy looks down on it for being a prequel show and not its own thing? Like they've already given enough awards to this creative team? I don't know, if that's the case that's a pretty bullshit excuse to me. This show is easily the best drama series on television right now, and nothing else is really close either. They're really messing up.
It doesn't hold true for every show, it's not a mandate, but it does happen. Also TBBT was awarded plenty by the TV Academy over the years. How many times did fucking Jim Parsons win lead actor awards for that trash over the years? Four goddamn times.
This show doesn't need the Emmys, in time their Emmys will crumble and be lost in the ash, but this show will always be beautiful.
