That was really the only way Chuck's story this season could possibly have ended, only question was whether it would be intentional or accidental. Is there anything better than this show out there, at this point? I don't know that I think so anymore, y'all.
finale was SO GOOD. everyone around me just complained that it, and the whole season were boring but i was gripped.
Don't get me wrong, I love this show and everything that went along with it. Including the pace. But part of me worries we won't truly get a full season of seeing Jimmy officially as Saul Goodman, Criminal Lawyer. Also no Mike in the finale?!
There's no way this happens, in my opinion. It might not be a full season of what Better Call Saul was originally envisioned as (a show about Saul fixing a different problem each episode) but I think we will get a full season of him in business as Saul, with the other personal stuff going on at the same time. He was well-established as Saul when Walt and Jesse meet him. Plus, it's currently 2003 on this show, which is five years before Breaking Bad starts. Plenty of time for some real Saul action before it ends.
Anyone watch Talking Saul last night? Two things I found interesting. One is, Gould said they 'have not started on Season 4 yet' which I found a bit odd. I'd think they'd at least have some ideas written, if not a script to start filming S4 soon, assuming it'd start up again in April. Also, Chris said to Gould something that I know that has been talked about in this thread, in BB, Saul is plastered everywhere, surely someone would realize it's Jimmy and Gould responded 'we still have a lot of work to do and problems to solve' Also, weirdly, the show hasn't even yet been renewed for Season 4. I guess ratings are really struggling - at one point hit a series low this season.
Show is probably safe. The ratings are lower than the first two seasons but they're still above where BB was in its 3rd season. Plus it's the last show on AMC that gets Emmy attention.
Which is kind of crazy considering Halt and Catch Fire and Preacher are also things that exist. Although Preacher isn't really awards-type material.
Great finale. It was actually heartwarming to see Jimmy self-sabotage like that, glad to see him right that wrong. That final scene was just brutal. Really hoping Kim somehow lands on her feet.
I thought everything leading up to the trial was the best the show had done with Chuck's trial being the high point. I wasn't as hooked with the episodes that followed, but the finale got me back to that point. Hope McKean gets recognized for this season. Some truly memorable moments from him
This is a stupid question but Did Chuck just straight-up commit suicide, or was he having some sort of weird sleep-muscle twitch of his leg kicking?
I thought there might still be a chance Chuck survives, and that the hotline was there because he was clearly trying to commit suicide, whether successful or not. But then I watched a bit of Talking Saul after (still annoyed they didn't call it "Better Talk Saul," btw) and Peter Gould made it seem like he's not going to make it. So I guess he really is gone.
