I was going to say that as well. I need to rewatch Breaking Bad ASAP, but I sort of remember Jesse looking much different even at the end of the show than he did at the beginning. Then he's basically looked the same ever since. I understand that he was supposed to look much younger in the scene we were shown, but he just looked like El Camino Jesse to me so it didn't really even register.
'Better Call Saul' Writer on Finally Entering the World of 'Breaking Bad' I love the fact that this Better Call Saul episode was titled “Breaking Bad” containing events that happened during the Breaking Bad episode “Better Call Saul” Also loved the opening with Saul freaking out given what we know now and the ending mixing Saul heading to the school and Gene literally “breaking bad” with the break-in. Such a damn great show.
"Really, Jimmy McGill gets hit by a truck in 609, and bam, we are in the future. He’s Saul Goodman. That was something we talked about for a while, and I think that was really effective. Also, we teased Gene in all these teasers at the start of each season, and I think it would have been weirder if we just did another teaser at the start of Season Six, and that’s the end of Gene. What’s the emotional wrap-up of Jimmy McGill going through all these changes? Gene was a temporary “I’m in hiding” moment, but he couldn’t suppress it. He never dealt with the pain of his brother, never dealt with the pain of losing Kim, seeing Howard die. He didn’t deal with any of it. When Chuck died, Howard went through the steps of healing himself, he took the blame for it, he went to therapy, and did all the steps that Jimmy should have done, so all these deep things he’s pushed down will rise to the surface. We want to see how we resolve that. That’s where we’re heading in the final episodes." this is such a great insight, but man I'm genuinely worried about what's gonna happen these last two episodes
I always thought it was strange that Jimmy just short of moves on from Chuck so quickly but then I realized that it was intentional. In this last season we've had a couple of different moments where Jimmy/Saul mentions pushing things down as to not think about them. He tells Kim that one day she'll wake up and won't think about what happened with Howard, and he also tells Jeff's friend "before you know it, you'll forget all about it" in regards to taking advantage of the guy with cancer. He's definitely about to be at a point where all of this stuff is finally boiling up to the surface.
Theory for the next episode: They leave us on a cliffhanger from last week and fully dive into what Kim’s been up to and revisit Saul in the finale
I thought about that as well...but that would contradict my 3-year-old theory that Kim disappears at some point and we never see or hear from her again. Kind of want that to pan out for selfish reasons, even though I'd LOVE to get some closure to Kim.
Well, I’d say based on one of the answers in that Variety interview: “Did you shoot any actual dialogue for the scene with Saul calling about Kim in the phone booth? Yes, there’s a scene written. What he actually says, it will be addressed in a future episode. We’ll know some more details of what’s spoken about. Because we had just gotten a very long phone call with Francesca, we decided, “Do we want to do another phone call?” Then we started talking about how it’d be interesting to not hear the details of whatever news he heard about Kim and leave that for later. Something upset him — we don’t know exactly what — but we’re going to see how he deals with that pain.” That makes it seem like we’ll probably see her end of that whole conversation in some form which, maybe, could lead to something else thereafter.
We all know Jimmy gets arrested, Kim becomes a lawyer again to get him out, and it ends happily ever after.
It’s certainly up for debate. I saw the clip on Reddit with boosted audio and subtitles which made it seem pretty explicitly clear that it’s Kim he’s talking to since he says her name a few times as he’s attempting to argue with her, but I could see another interpretation of that or even the writers/producers deciding to go another route with it after that initial scene had been filmed. Only two left! Really looking forward to seeing how this plays out and also feeling the sads about it at the same time.
Feel like it'd be weird to get Kim on the phone and have him be yelling almost immediately. But don't correct or confirm me cause I'm waiting to find out lol
Which is why I don't think it was Kim. And the spoiler tag up above from the writer even says "whatever news he heard about Kim"
Yeah, this makes me think someone gave him some unexpected news about Kim and she may have died. Although he'd likely be more broken up the rest of the episode if that had been the case.
German dub apparently made it very clear he was talking to Kim. Also, some set pictures leaked that very much hint at Kim returning soon
Having read the Reddit info, I immediately regretted it and highly recommend not clicking the spoiler tags
I’ll echo this. I read it/watched it because curiosity got the better of me, but if you want to avoid spoilers, definitely don’t look at those particular ones because it’s fairly revealing.
