I said this in the main tour thread, but ATDI was rumored to be on. My guess is that they’ll be announced after the Deftones show in Vegas this weekend (which TMV is opening)
I thought maybe Death Cab playing Plans, or Jimmy. I love ATDI, but with Mars Volta releasing a new album it would be an odd time for a reunion.
Is Norman involved in the reunion? I know I'm reading too much into but he doesn't follow the TITR account haha. I thought he was pretty "online" and just surprised he hasn't shared anything about it.
Bummer he won’t be playing with them but I totally understand and respect his decision. Glad he’s doing what’s right for him
Wonder if Jimmy Eat World are doing an album play at all for their set. I’d go to this but my wife would have no interest. Bummer. Room packages were super reasonable in the presale too. Like $1k for two people with VIP for three nights I think.
I feel like for VIP at a 3 day fest. $375+fees is pretty solid. The hotel packages seem overpriced now that I look at it honestly. Two VIP tickets comes to $930. So the hotel winds up being $1,130 for four nights. And it’s not a good hotel. Taking off Thursday only saves $60. Probably better off doing them separate.
This might sound like a funny question, but this is something that I was thinking about on my drive home from work yesterday. But like, how do they pull this festival off? Last year they managed to get Cap’n Jazz, Rainer Marina, Dismemberment Plan and others to reunite and play for the first time in ~a decade. This year they got TITR, Knapsack and others to do the same. What entices these bands to do this festival specifically? Are they throwing them an offer they can’t refuse? Does someone who books this fest know people in these bands? It’s kind of intriguing to me because I assume other fests must’ve tried to get some of these bands before and been turned down. I’m sure some of these weren’t too hard to get in the works. Like, Hey Mercedes was an easy in since Braid played last year. And J Robbins playing Burning Airlines was also easy to pull off since Jawbox played last year. But like, how’d they get like, These Arms Are Snakes?
Doesn't really answer the question but EEIWALE sort of explained why they are doing a one-off reform for it:
Some real "if you build it they will come" energy in this festival. Or maybe more accurately "if you book them, they will come" a la Wayne's World 2.
