Bergman Island (Mia Hansen-Love, 2021)

Two American filmmakers retreat to Fårö island for the summer and hope to find inspiration where Bergman shot his most celebrated films. As the days pass by, the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur, and the couple is torn apart.

 

Saw this this afternoon and truly loved it, one of the finest films I’ve seen this year. Some wooden performances by some of the non professional actors but the two female leads are incredible, especially Mia Wasikowska.

I keep meaning to watch this one. She is one of the best directors currently working.
