he hasn't really broken through in the US yet it doesn't seem, which is kinda crazy given how huge he is in the UK/Europe.
Sorry Kid is sooo good. Really love records like this that have a lot going on but aren’t overwhelming or in your face about it. Engaging, mellow, and still pretty accessible
Yeah I definitely will. My much cooler than I am girlfriend asked what this was when I had it on and she goes “I knew this voice sounded familiar, that’s cool, I didn’t know he still put out music.” Apparently I’ve been asleep
yeah his first album had some pretty massive songs. only love and old pine have more than double the streams each of the top few streamed elliott smiths songs haha. he won what is essentially the British version of the best new artist grammy award when they dropped. i found out about him in quarantine somehow and have been obsessed ever since got tickets for the live stream next week. excited to see how these songs turn out live
I have been listening to Ben since 2013. I went to see him live 2 years ago and his live performance was great. He usually plays his latest album in full + just a couple of his earlier songs.
I feel like I'd get on with this a lot more than I have his other stuff but not had time for it just quite yet - how is it? Willing to give it a shot because of the National connection.
This is nice. I don’t love it yet, but like everything else Ben has released, I feel so comforted by his music
got my hands on the vinyl mix and it does sound a lot better on my headphones, I think. more depth than the really flat, plain mix on digital, it helps the album come alive a bit. and the extended ending of "Crowhurst's Meme" is great, no idea why it's not on every version!
yeah I was groovin to this at like, 1am last night, and it's a reallllly nice late night in the dark kinda album
