Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (Tim Burton, September 6, 2024) Movie • Page 5

Discussion in 'Entertainment Forum' started by iCarly Rae Jepsen, May 11, 2023.

  1. I thought the first half of this was just okay and then loved pretty much everything from the reveal with the neighbor boy on. Obviously seeing those Burton sets and colors and effects were a blast. Ortega, O'Hara, and Theroux are great, and If Dafoe's having fun, goddamnit, so am I.

Also thought this handled the callback stuff almost infinitely better than the new Ghostbusters movies. Gave you what you wanted (sandworms and possessed dancing) while also kind of finding its own path. Not a great film or on the level of the first, but fun enough to justify its existence.

    Agree with all of that.

And even though Belucci and Dafoe were having fun, you can remove their characters completely and it basically has no effect on the movie.

Definitely was thinking the whole time “this could use a few less B plots” but like, I wouldn’t want to remove Dafoe from the movie either. He’s way too much fun.

  5. Yeah, our theater was pretty packed last night. Haven't seen that many people in a theater since, like...whatever the last Marvel movie I saw was. (Then again, I mostly see horror.)

Hope it hurts Paramount to see a legacyquel with Jena Ortega is killing it.

I watched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice earlier on with some friends and first off the screening i attended was packed out but the audience was well behaved and not on their phones and the movie itself.. I had an absolute blast watching it, worth the long wait!!

I liked this more than I thought I would, a few looney tunes kinda gags that really got me

did not like Winona Ryder's performance but loved Catherine O'Hara

This is the most disappointing movie I’ve seen so far this year and I fell asleep watching Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes, twice.

I’d rather they made Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian

  12. That's unfortunate considering Kingdom might be the best blockbuster of the year

Maybe I need to rewatch it because I wasn’t really that impressed with it on my initial viewing and thought it was kinda boring as well.

  14. It's long for sure, but it earns the runtime and maybe the best of that new franchise IMHO.

Watched the original Beetlejuice last night, for what I think might be the first time in full? It’s one of those movies I’ve had in that vague, “I’m pretty sure I watched it as a kid” category, but idk.

Anyways. It’s good fun. Obviously. Winona Ryder rules. That Beetlejuice guy, kind of a loser creep? Who’d have thought. Put your juice away, my dude.

Planning on seeing this one this week. Cool to see people say it’s more fun than it seemed it’d be.

found this movie wildly disappointing. actors were all great. set design and practical effects were fun and impressive... but the story just did nothing for me. oh well. on to the next.

So this was pretty bad, sufffered from a lot of sequelitis and tone was all over the place, but had some cool shit and was also really funny at times. Justin Therooux was great; Dafoe and Bellucci seemed unnecessary but definitely not going to complain about their presence.

I need movies to look like movies again.

I know he's already said no, but I feel like they have to make a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, to complete the loop.

Finally saw this, and it was... fun!

The plot was so needlessly overstuffed and complicated and didn't add up, and not all the bits were equally funny, but like. It was a charming, silly, stylish cacophony that generally didn't overstay its welcome or go too long without amusing me. Good cast. Good bits. Delores should've sucked out my soul ha ha just kidding unless.

I don't think I've cared about contemporary Tim Burton at any point in my adult life, but I did like that he seemed to be genuinely having fun. Would be down for that energy ending up in another film that's not a legasequel.
