Wouldn't whitewashing be if they were remaking S1 scene for scene, word for word, and replacing the entire Asian cast with white people? This is a brand new season with different characters in a different storyline. Also Oscar Isaac is Guatemalan.
I hope this new season is good because the first season was really good. I will be watching, regardless of what colour the actors are!
LOL what is with yall... take off the boxing gloves. just expressing some minor disappointment that the show is changing directions. s1 was ENTIRELY about the Asian immigrant experience, Asian-American generational trauma, and ALL the leads were Asian--now there's only Charles as a lead. I have faith that s2 could be good--maybe even great--but it's a bummer to see something that started with a strong ethnic identity begin to pander as soon as it gets popular. but again, we'll see how it plays out.
okay but you didn't say the show was moving away from an asian cast, you said it was whitewashing the cast. feels extremely weird to say "there's only charles as the lead" if your argument is whitewashing with oscar isaac right there too. makes no sense, man.
there's no "argument" as I'm not "arguing" anything. both Oscar and Charles are white-passing and that's not a preposterous thing to suggest. I just realized ten min ago they weren't white

yeah like, there is obviously conversation that can be had about casting choices but you approached it entirely in bad faith lol just own it and move on
Bad faith or not, all I was trying to say was that I was hoping for more Asian representation. That's what I appreciated from the first season. I guess I shouldn't have used the word "whitewashing" so I apologize for that.
