A24 had a contract for all their movies with Showtime. However, Showtime is getting shut down clearly so now they signed a new one with MAX so I think next year their movies will go to Zazlav land instead
If it wasn’t for services like JustWatch I’d go mad with trying to keep up where things are available. It’s so bad.
would love to own this physically if Lionsgate or A24 would release a 4K disc here in the US, but right now, my digital copy on Vudu will have to suffice.
Paying for multiple streaming services that almost all have ads now feels like we've come full circle.
unfortunately there's not. Lionsgate oversees all widespread physical media distribution for A24 in the US, and they determine what does and doesn't get a 4K release primarily by commercial success (in addition to other factors), which is why films like EEAAO and Talk to Me got 4K releases, but critical powerhouses like Past Lives and Pearl didn't. since the film only made a portion of its money back in the US, Lionsgate just put it on a standard Blu-Ray, reserving 4K for digital and streaming. i've heard the 1080p disc is apparently reference-quality, so worst case scenario, i could pick it up for cheap and probably not notice much of a difference, but i'm still holding out hope that A24 puts out a disc by themselves (like they did for the Director's Cut of Midsommar, which was a fantastic package and presentation).
i hope. I think the only A24 Criterion release is Uncut Gems, although i could be wrong. nowadays, A24 seems to do the same thing in house
iirc, i think the German or French 4K has a slightly-different cover. i believe it's half of Beau's face on the left side with the play backdrop from Act 3 in the background. i can't download the image, but you can see it here. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Beau-Is-Afraid-4K-Blu-ray/338685/
Started filming yesterday Eddington - Production List | Film & Television Industry Alliance took about a year and a half from filming for Beau to come out, so maybe late 2025?
