with steve here, actually felt the first half hour flew by and then the next hour felt like 7. abysmal vibes here.
Just small stuff was very funny and also unnerving. It got me right out of the gate with how small and uncomfortable the couch in the therapists office was. Then just like other Ari films random shots of bodies like the one in a pile of garbage near his apartment. Creeped me out. Movie has everything
Finally got around to this. Was pretty impressed. Thought it was funny and terrifying and absurd. Actually thought about Kaufman a lot while watching this, kind of Aster’s Synecdoche, New York but instead of anxiety of creative process it’s anxiety and mommy issues. Big fan, I’m assuming it will only grow in stature over the years, ripe for a rabid cult like following.
Saw this for the first time tonight. Pretty insane movie. I think I loved it, not completely sure yet haha.
I was loving the first hour. That first sequence in particular. It's an anxious 30-year-old's worst nightmare essentially, can't believe how well Ari Aster does horror in broad daylight. I need a breather to finish this though. It's a cold Saturday afternoon and the movie is not particularly uplifting lol
