Hello Nasty is prob my fav, but tbh I haven't listened to any of the others all the way through. But like, I still love them?
I'm a huge fan of this band, since Hello Nasty came out when I was 12. But these days I only ever stick on Check Your Head, I'll Communication or Hello Nasty. Appreciate Paul's Boutique and its artistic achievement but it's not a style I'm massively into, still find the rapping a bit grating compared to the 90s stuff.
Man I miss them so much.....the first cassette tape I ever bought was License to Ill when I was 10....and I only grew to appreciate their work more as I got older
Rap-rock beasts and drive-by eggings: Beastie Boys’ 20 greatest tracks – ranked! | Music | The Guardian Not awful in my opinion, So Watcha Want the only truly significant miss.
I genuinely love that dopey song as its video was a big part of my youth and my band in high school covered it. I’m kinda surprised to hear it was meant to be a parody when LTI is very bro-y and misogynistic in an Andrew Dice Clay of-the-times kind of way. Nothing else in their catalog comes across as juvenile, so it’s a good thing they quickly moved on from it with PB and beyond.
i agree, it's a nice piece in time and they were clearly talented considering all the follow up releases..
Huge fan, one of the bands I've listened to for the longest, but I never listen to this song or album. But I recognise that without it's success they wouldn't have been given the support for Paul's Boutique or even Check Your Head given PBs initial lack of success
Surely these guys have a pretty comprehensive vault of tracks? Whatever happened to Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1?
According to the book, they lost the hard drive of it on a boxcar in Missoula, MT. I lived there for years and have not recovered it hahaha
