The song is OK, but the insane amount of tuning on Caleb's vocals completely destroys my enjoyment of it. Also funny that the breakdown is a complete emo/screamo/post-hardcore vibe instead of something Beartooth normally would do. Don't get me wrong, I love that genre and grew up on it, but talk about following a trend. As someone said, it sound more like Bert and The Used.
At first just seeing the headline I thought the controversy was gonna be that people think the song is bad lol Of course it had to be even more stupid, I do really think Fronz gets big mad at how big a band like Beartooth is now and not anything he's involved with lol
Right but if they did "something Beartooth normally would do" , people would be mad that all of their songs sound the same. Truly lose-lose.
Absolutely, I hear you. Just funny, with the revival of early 2000s post-hardcore screamo styles and music videos that's been popping up this past year. Either way, I'm sure a new album will have lots of great songs, this one just feels a little too processed and watered down, especially his vocals.
i like the song a lot. i think the drum mix is strange but i will learn to adjust vocals sound appropriately processed for the song and genre imo there’s also like a lot more prominent guitar stuff going on than in a lot of the radio rock material this is obviously trying to compete with sooo those criticisms aren’t tracking for me
Didn’t expect to read this on my news feed today but awesome becoming your true self Beartooth Singer Caleb Shomo Comes Out as Gay
Wish nothing but the best for Caleb and Fleur. Internet is, of course, already taking sides on this. Just wanting everyone to be well being themselves!
That there are any "sides" to be taken when it comes to someone finding the strength to be who they really are despite the emotional cost is, no pun intended, sick and disgusting. Parasocial parasites need to fuck off.
I've never dived much into Beartooth but I was following Attack! Attack! once he took over as the frontman. I remember the vitriol thrown at them when the infamous Stick Stickly MV came out, how comfortable people -and not only edgy teens but adults too- were throwing slurs at them, also that one ex-Attack! Attack! bandmate whose statement regarding his departure included his struggles regarding his sexuality too. The latter seems random to mention but this came to mind because I also recall metalsucks and the likes making low effort articles dunking on said member. All that to say I don't know how much the scenecore scene has changed since but I can't imagine how tough and confusing it must've been for Caleb to navigate all this and grow into an adult, a frontman to his own succesful band and then a husband considering he was like 16 back when A!A! blew up. Props to him. His now ex-wife's statement was very mature and affirming towards Caleb's coming out journey so anyone trying to frame their split in a negative way are losers whose brains have been rotted by ragebait and, possibly (I'd bet on it), their own bigotry.
Reading more into the reactions, oh yeah... seeing people make threads and even unhinged TikToks about this just makes me want to scream "get a job!" lol. I continue to be confused by the influencer/gossipification of alternative culture as a whole
