FUCK YEAH LETS GO Caleb’s instagram makes it seem like he’s all in on positive ragers like Riptide. Absolutely can’t wait to hear this one
This has such a fun groove. I bet it's gonna melt faces live. I understand it's less technical or "metal" than his old stuff...but it also just sounds like a blast. I was singing that chorus by the last pass.
Yeah like, how smart is it to have the variations on the chorus each time (acoustic, half-time, then the post-breakdown echo on his vocals), just really great intelligently written stuff
I find it so refreshing when bands do things like these. Keeps the song interesting. I also agree these two new songs bring out the best from this band.
Damn another banger. Announce the album already! I’m so pumped for a whole record of Riptide and Sunshine. This direction for them rules.
Did a discography run today to solidify my general thoughts that I remember having for them, Disgusting and Aggressive are still super fun. Disgusting is a fun introduction to the standard Beartooth sound, Aggressive keeps that going and it works for a follow up album. Disease is where I think it starts to get bogged down and that sound can't really hold for 3 albums in a row, probably their blandest album to me. Below brings back the fun and starting in a newer direction which is cool. Riptide and Sunshine might be their best songs they've made, kind of wild how good they are.
Yup, agreed 100 fold the delivery of “I hear angels calling my name and” reminds me of Masterpiece Theater Josh Ramsay and that’s a huge compliment
every album has almost the same hit/miss ratio for me, but typically this band's highs are VERY high, so i am always excited for new stuff
The one unpopular opinion I seem to have is that Below is far and away their worst album. I find it so boring. I was surprised to see that I’m in the minority on that one.
Below is very depressing, but it's REALLY catchy. Those first 4 tracks all go straight to the moon, particularly Devestation and Fed Up. No Return, Skin and Hell of It all whip ass, and The Last Riff is a face melter live. It's truly the first record of his I really got into. Having said all that, the last two singles are what I think his ideal form should be. Still hard, still technical but allowing his gift for melody to shine with a bit of grit built-in. There may be no better writer of a chorus hook in the genre. So if we get a whole record of Riptide and Sunshine, I will be jacked to the tits.
