this band is like a go to mindless guilty pleasure. like, ill just throw on the albums and eps while playing Overwatch or something just for some background noise.
I love everything they've put out, they could run with this sound for the next 50 years for all I care they do it so well.
"On October 20th, Beach Slang will be releasing a new EP under the moniker Quiet Slang, entitled We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags. It will features cello and piano versions of two Beach Slang songs, as well as covers of tracks by The Replacements and Big Star."
thankfully no one but Beach Slang oversaturated it themselves. two eps in a year, the next year an album, the year after that another album, this year an ep and relentless touring throughout. and there was basically no noticeable change in their sound except maybe that one song porno love or whatever and i guess ride the wild haze was a bit harder for them. but that's a lot of we are young and alive and the streets are punching me in the heart in a short period of time
Their EPs had me PUMPED! Their album was decent but I was kinda over it by then. And then the second album came out and I think I got half way through it before I realized it was just more of the same.
i wonder if we'd still feel this way if they had broken up when they did. i mean, probably, but maybe not? who knows though.
I think the "Beach Slang oversaturation" narrative is overstated within the DIY scene they came from. They're doing exceptionally well outside of this bubble.
To be fair, pretty sure everyone here was speaking about why the band fell off for them specifically and on these forums in general. They couldn't tour as much as they did if they weren't doing just fine
oh that's really cool. it's been a while since I listened to them too, maybe whatever they do next will bring me back on board
